How Irina Shayk Really Feels About Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's insane chemistry in A Star Is Born has spilled off of the screen, and some fans are certain the co-stars must be more than friends. However, Cooper is currently in a relationship with Victoria's Secret model Irina Shayk. Even though Shayk was applauding the co-stars as they performed "Shallow" at the 2019 Academy Awards, the world is still wondering how the model really feels about Lady Gaga's seemingly close friendship with her partner.

Cooper and Shayk have been together for years. Rumors that they were an item began surfacing in April 2015, when Page Six spotted them out together in New York. They welcomed their first child, a daughter named Lea de Seine Shayk Cooper, in March 2017. But despite their tight family unit, rumors regarding Cooper's close relationship with Gaga have persisted, especially now that Lady Gaga is single again, having ended her engagement to talent agent Christian Carino shortly before the Oscars. Keeping all that in mind, let's investigate how Irina Shayk really feels about Lady Gaga.

Following Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga's seriously steamy Oscars performance, which saw them embracing at the piano and seemingly about to kiss, rumors swirled that the co-stars were secretly more than just friends. However, a source told Us Weekly that Shayk wasn't upset by Gaga's chemistry with Cooper. "Irina knows that Bradley and Gaga are artists," the insider said. "It's a nonissue for her. They were in character putting on an Oscar performance."

Let's remember: Shayk has been dating Cooper since 2015, and he's routinely thanked Shayk in his acceptance speeches throughout award season, making it clear that she and their daughter are among the most important people in his life. At the 2019 BAFTAs, while accepting an award for A Star Is Born, Cooper had this to say (via Entertainment Tonight): "I also need to thank Irina for putting up with me while I was trying to make music in our basement for a year." Those long hours in the basement clearly paid off for Cooper, and according to The Sun, Shayk is "actually thrilled at how successful the movie has been and really wanted to go to the Oscars." 

Shayk did, indeed, attend Hollywood's biggest night, and she may have been sending a subtle message while she was there...

The seating arrangements at the Oscars really got fans talking on social media, particularly when Irena Shayk sat between Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. Was she trying to keep the co-stars apart? That's a big question mark, considering the ladies seemed perfectly happy together throughout the show, but there was one telling moment that suggested to some eagle-eyed fans that Shayk may have been providing a much needed barrier between the A Star Is Born co-stars. The camera caught Cooper leaning forward in his seat to look at Lady Gaga and speak to her — something that was much harder to do with Shayk in the middle of them. Gasp!

The New York Post reports that the seating chart at the Oscars is strict and that Cooper, Shayk, and Gaga would have found out ahead of time where their bums would rest. "You always find out ahead of time where your clients are sitting and who they're sitting with or near," a publicist told the New York Post. "If there's a problem, the academy is very accommodating." In other words, this trio knew where they'd be sitting before the show and had plenty of time to get used to the arrangement.

After Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga's incredible performance of "Shallow" at the 2019 Oscars, something unexpected happened — the audience broke into a standing ovation. The person who started the whole thing? None other than Cooper's girlfriend, Irena Shayk. By leading the standing ovation, Shayk clearly communicated that she wasn't just okay with Gaga and Cooper's intimate performance, but that she loved it. She gave her support to both of them in the most public way possible, and she appeared elated to do so.

Shayk's applause at the Oscars wasn't the first time she has publicly supported A Star Is Born. For two women who are rumored to be rivals, Irena Shayk and Lady Gaga got incredibly close during the 2019 Oscars. They even hugged on multiple occasions. From whispering in one another's ears to full-on embracing, it definitely seemed as though Gaga and Shayk knew each other on a personal level and had spent plenty of time getting to know one another. Shayk seemed genuinely happy for Gaga's success, especially when the singer-songwriter won the Oscar for best original song.

It's also worth noting that Gaga and Shayk have attended several ceremonies together in support of A Star Is Born. At the Golden Globes in January 2019, Cooper sat between Shayk and Gaga, and the trio looked perfectly content with that situation. All three stars also stepped out at the National Board of Review awards gala, and no drama ensued. Cosmopolitan called Shayk and Gaga's friendship "basically BFF status," and while that might be a little too generous of a description, there's certainly been no clear evidence indicating these two hate each other. But there is one thing Shayk does hate...

While Irena Shayk apparently has no problem with Lady Gaga the person, she's not necessarily a fan of the endless gossip surrounding the pop star's relationship with Bradley Cooper. A source allegedly told The Sun that the "stories about Irina being sick of Gaga have some truth to them — it's not that she dislikes Gaga or is jealous of her, but she's sick of the constant stories about her 'close' relationship to Bradley." We can't blame her.

Toward the end of 2018, reports surfaced that Shayk and Cooper's relationship was on the rocks. "They are miserable together. They have been for months," a source told Page Six. "He doesn't drink and is into spirituality. She wants to go out." Whether or not there is any truth to those rumors remains to be seen, but the couple has certainly put up a united front on the red carpet during awards season. 

Although they weren't spotted on any Oscar after-party red carpets, the Daily Mail reported that Shayk and Cooper did continue celebrating A Star Is Born after the ceremony — and Gaga was there too. An insider claimed Gaga "made a beeline for Bradley, they were all over each other, they embraced and had an intimate chat, they couldn't get enough of each other. They were hugging and leaning in close to talk in each other's ear." Meanwhile, Shayk reportedly hung out with Cooper's mother, who walked the red carpet with the couple prior to the Academy Awards. "Irina was there but she was sat on a couch in the shadows at the back of the room, she didn't look impressed," the source said. "Bradley spent more time with Gaga than her that's for sure." 

The day after the Oscars, Cooper and Shayk were spotted running errands and picking up their daughter. The Daily Mail claims they were "looking glum," but there might not have been any actual drama going on. This could just be two people coming down from that Oscar high, right?

According to multiple reports (including OK! magazine), Irena Shayk allegedly unfollowed Lady Gaga on Instagram at some point before the 2019 Oscars, so we know Gaga's steamy performance with Bradley Cooper wasn't the catalyst for their social media distance. Granted, the fact that these ladies don't follow each other on Instagram doesn't necessarily mean they're not very close in real life. (C'mon, you know you've got friends and family you prefer to ignore online.)

That said, Gaga has continued to gush about her A Star is Born director online. After their memorable Oscars performance, Gaga shared a photo from that intimate moment on Instagram with the caption: "Nothing could be more special than sharing this moment at the Oscars with a true friend and artistic genius." Prior to that, she set the tabloids on fire when she posted a pic of her new tattoos on Valentine's Day. One of the tats is a tribute to the song "La Vie en Rose," which she famously sings in A Star Is Born. Gaga clearly has a soft spot for Cooper. The question remains: Has it crossed a line?

Now that the publicity tour for A Star Is Born is over, there will be far fewer opportunities for Irina Shayk, Lady Gaga, and Bradley Cooper to hang out together. A source told The Sun that the model is relieved that the promotions surrounding Cooper's directorial debut are finally over: "It's been a long publicity campaign and she's ready for it to end." However, it's possible that Cooper and Gaga could wind up working together again in the future. Oh boy.

Cooper has given Gaga glowing reviews as an actress, telling E! News he would happily direct the megastar again. "I'd love to," he said. "Oh my God, yeah. I'd just have to write something worthy of her." Gaga returned the sentiment at the Critics Choice Awards in January 2019. "I would of course be very happy and lucky to be working with him again." she said (via Deadline). Are there already plans in the works for these enigmatic co-stars? "As far as future collaborations, that's going to stay secret in a locked box somewhere," she said. 

We've got a hunch that Shayk's true feelings about future collabs with Gaga may also remain under lock and key for a while, but you know what they say? Two is company; three's a crowd.
