To Catch A Predator Host Chris Hansen's Wife Reportedly Filed For Divorce Before Arrest
It's over between former To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen and his wife, Mary Joan.
According to a Radar Online exclusive, published on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, the TV journalist's wife reportedly filed for divorce in June 2018 after almost 30 years of marriage — and just months before his recent arrest.
Mary Joan reportedly cited that "the marriage has broken down irretrievably" in a divorce complaint obtained by the gossip rag. It should be noted that Hansen, with whom she shares two adult children, was allegedly caught cheating with NBC anchor Kristyn Caddell back in 2011 (via the National Enquirer). While the former couple reportedly spoke with a mediator earlier this week over their "financial disputes," Mary Joan has asked for "a fair division of property and debts," as well as alimony from her ex.
At the time of this writing, further details surrounding their divorce have yet to be revealed. However, both parties are expected to appear in court by the end of the month.
Readers may already be aware that Hansen made headlines earlier this week over another set of legal issues. As Nicki Swift previously reported, the 59-year-old turned himself in to police custody in Stamford, Conn. on Monday, Jan. 14 after the Stamford PD issued a warrant for his arrest. He was charged for allegedly writing a series of bad checks to cover nearly $13,000 worth of marketing materials from a local business in 2017. Hansen was later released from jail without bond that same day and is expected to appear in court next week. According to the New York Post, the television personality may be fined up to $5,000 and could face one to five years in prison if convicted of this Class D felony charge.
To further complicate matters, TMZ reported on Friday, Jan. 18 that the Crime Watch Daily host has been evicted from his New York City apartment after allegedly coming up short on his rent. According to legal documents obtained by the media outlet, Hansen reportedly owes his landlord a total of $4,000 from his August and September 2018 rent.
At the time of this writing, Hansen and his reps have yet to publicly comment on any of these legal matters.
