Expert: Taylor's Body Language After Travis' Fall Proves She Cares Deeply About Her New Man
Taylor Swift's several appearances at her new beau Travis Kelce's football games are making even bigger headlines than the events themselves. Cameras first caught the pop star at the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Chicago Bears game in September, sitting in his personal suite alongside his mom. At first, there was only speculation that Kelce and Swift were an item but she seemed to solidify that they were getting hot and heavy when she was seen at his New Jersey game on October 1 and again for the fourth time more than two weeks later in Kansas City.
During the Chiefs vs. Chargers game on October 22, Swift made news yet again but it was because of her strong reaction to Kelce getting tackled on the field. A fan account The Swift Society shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, a clip of the "Blank Space" singer standing next to Brittany Mahomes in the suite looking shocked after Kelce's fall. Of course, many fans had their thoughts, and Jess Ponce III, body language expert, communication coach, and author of "A.W.E. S.O.M.E." thought her reaction spoke volumes in the way that she cares for her new boyfriend.
Taylor Swift is serious about Travis Kelce
Full-body tackles are a common occurrence in football but for Taylor Swift, this is the first time she's dating someone in a contact sport. After seeing the "Love Story" singer's reaction to the Los Angeles Chargers player Eric Kendricks colliding with Travis Kelce on the field, Jess Ponce shared, "While many fans were concerned about the action on the field, one special fan in particular exhibited visual worry about Travis's well being." The body language expert continued, "Girlfriend, Taylor Swift, physically twitched as her beau fell to the ground. She watched anxiously, gasping for air, as the ball fumbled in the air."
In Ponce's opinion, Swift's reaction was "more than just a missed play." He believes that she didn't look on as a fan but as a "full-fledged, committed girlfriend." Amid much speculation that Swift and Kelce's romance was the real deal, Ponce added, "Her face says everything. If there's any doubt about her feelings, her reaction should put those concerns to rest. She's definitely serious about Travis."
Travis Kelce made light of the tackle Taylor Swift was so concerned about
Travis Kelce was apparently okay after the tackle and he was spotted holding hands with Taylor Swift after the game, per People. Swift left still in her Kansas City Chiefs sweatshirt while the tight end changed into a plaid shirt in the same color, suggesting that they're already coordinating outfits. Perhaps Kelce's mom can give her some tips on how to handle the game's rough plays, as she was spotted with her arm around her during the Chiefs vs. Jets game and saying, "Oh my goodness, I don't know how you do it."
As for taking a tumble, Kelce isn't one to harbor any hard feelings toward his opponents. He once laughed about Charger player Derwin James' big tackle on him during a 2022 podcast episode of "New Heights" with his brother Jason Kelce. "I kind of deserved to get powerbombed in that situation for not getting it in the end zone ... I made a cut back and then all of a sudden he is on me like lightning. I mean, he surprised the s*** out of me," Travis explained. He recalled feeling James' arms around his legs and laughing in the moment, thinking, "This is not about to end well for me right now."
Despite the harsh body slam, the Chiefs ended up winning against the Chargers and Kelce thinks Swift is his good luck charm.
Taylor Swift's appearances are seemingly making Travis Kelce play better
Travis Kelce flubbed when he made a misstep that got him tackled, but he is still playing better than ever since Taylor Swift started supporting him in the stands. According to ESPN Stats & Info, "In the 4 games Taylor Swift has been in attendance, Travis Kelce is averaging 108 receiving yards per game. The games she was not, he's averaging 46.5." Front Office Sports also tweeted CBS' stats that Kelce's receiving yards per game averaged 99 with Swift in attendance and 46.5 when "left to his own devices."
A source told The Messenger that Kelce believes Swift is his good luck charm. "Taylor is having the time of her life at these football games cheering on Travis. Her and her friends are fully embracing this era and are having a lot of fun being there," the insider added. She's not the only supportive one in the relationship. As she kicks off the South American leg of her Eras Tour in November, a source shared with ET that Kelce is planning on cheering her on. Luckily, the Chiefs' bye week lined up at the same time so he can have some fun and be Swift's good luck charm while she does her magic on the stage.
