What Eddie Murphy's Kids Look Like Today
On Nov. 30, 2018, comedy legend Eddie Murphy — at the age of 57 — welcomed his tenth child into the world. That might seem like a lot, but at least Murphy can say he has more box office hits than children. Can Madonna or Angelina Jolie say that? That's a rhetorical question. With ten kids with five different women, including five with ex-wife Nicole Mitchell Murphy, the Coming to America star clearly loves fatherhood, but most importantly, he loves his children.
"The brightest part of my life is my kids," Murphy told ET in 2016. "My world revolves around them — even the old, gray, bald ones." So if you're a reporter and you ask him about his kids, be prepared for the icon to gush. "I really got lucky with my kids. There really isn't a bad one in the bunch; everyone turned out to be really good people," he said in 2016 per People. So let's meet them, well everyone but Murphy's fourth child, Myles Murphy, who files so far under the radar, we couldn't find out anything about him at all. Here's what (the rest of) Eddie Murphy's kids look like today.
Eric Murphy
Eric Murphy (born July 10, 1989) is Eddie Murphy's first and only child with then-girlfriend Paulette McNeely. In what you will find to be a pattern, Eric has seemingly shunned the spotlight and leads a private life. He may take after his mother in that regard because, according to the New York Post, not much is known about McNeely. Despite dating Murphy in the late '80s at the peak of Murphy's stardom, Eric's mom reportedly "has never been photographed."
The Post also maintains that McNeely's relationship with the Shrek star "appears to have been short-lived," since Eric's younger sister was born to Nicole Mitchell Murphy five months after he was born. Eric doesn't appear to dig social media, but we do know that his famous father and siblings maintain an active presence in his life. According to Cheat Sheet, Eric is "close" to Murphy's second-oldest son, Christian.
Bria Murphy
Bria Murphy (born Nov. 18, 1989), is Eddie Murphy's second child and his first with his ex-wife, Nicole Mitchell Murphy. An actress and model, Bria appeared in the 2016 comedy Amateur Night with Jason Biggs and Ashley Tisdale. That same year, she also launched her debut art show in Los Angeles, and her famous father and brothers were in attendance. "I'm glad that people get to see how talented she is," Eddie said. "...It's exciting to see her stuff up on the walls ... I'm having all of those proud parent feelings."
In a 2013 interview with Good Morning America (per ABC News), Bria discussed the "pressure to be perfect" in the modeling industry, claiming the biz makes "girls get addicted to drugs" and come up with dangerous ways to stay thin. "I've heard of people eating the cotton balls with the orange juice ... they dip it in the orange juice, and then they eat the cotton balls to help them feel full because the cotton's not doing anything. It's just dissolving. And it makes you think you're full, but you're not," she explained. Seriously, folks, do not try that at home.
Christian Murphy
Christian Murphy (born Nov. 29, 1990) is Eddie Murphy's third child and the only one he had with Tamara Hood Johnson (pictured). Much like his older brother Eric, Christian has maintained a relatively private life. He appeared to catch the acting bug for awhile. According to IMDb, he appeared in a 2008 episode of The Shield titled "Snitch" and the 2011 comedy-drama Cougar, Inc. alongside Denise Richards and Sarah Hyland. Christian adores his kin, calling them the "best looking family in #america" in a 2016 Instagram post.
His mother garnered national attention in 2013 when she sued Lynch-Dyson Entertainment, the producers of the reality show Hollywood Exes, for $1 million, claiming they ripped off her idea. Per TMZ, she pitched The Hollywood ExClub to the production company in 2008 based on her relationship with Eddie Murphy but "discussions went nowhere." When the show premiered in 2012, it starred "girls Tamara had in mind for her own show" except one — Nicole Mitchell Murphy. We're unsure if that caused any awkward conversations over Christmas dinner.
Shayne Audra Murphy
Shayne Audra Murphy (born Oct. 10, 1994) is Eddie Murphy's fifth child and third with Nicole Mitchell Murphy. Shayne is yet another Murphy offspring that isn't in the spotlight. Other than appearing in eight episodes of Hollywood Exes with her mother in 2014, Shayne's life is pretty lowkey. She does have a presence on Instagram, uploading photos of her burgeoning modeling career and the ever-popular selfie. In one post, she celebrated alongside her brothers and sisters at her mother's 50th birthday party. In 2014, her racy lingerie shoot with her sister, Bria, caught the eye of E! News, who couldn't get enough of their "good genes."
On Twitter, she shares many of her life's truths. "Tried frog legs tonight. Not a fan," she tweeted on Jan. 14, 2019. (Same, Shayne. Same.) And much like the rest of us, she can't wait for the final season of Game of Thrones.
Zola Ivy Murphy & Bella Zahra Murphy
Zola Ivy Murphy (Dec. 24, 1999) is Eddie Murphy's sixth child and fourth with Nicole Mitchell Murphy. Zola is an IMG model, and on June 7, 2018, her parents made a rare public appearance together at her high school graduation. Zola (above left) is a big fan of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and in 2017, she went to a screening in full costume. "Thanks to everyone who came and time warped with me," she wrote on Instagram. And who was time warping right along with her? Dear old dad.
Bella Zahra Murphy (Jan. 29, 2002) is Eddie Murphy's seventh child and fifth with Nicole Mitchell Murphy. In 2018, she celebrated a milestone birthday with family and friends. "Happy Birthday to my beautiful Bella who is 16 years old today. You're such a beautiful & smart young lady. I'm so proud of you. I love you so much..." her proud mama wrote on Instagram.
Angel Murphy Brown
Angel Murphy Brown (born April 3, 2007) is Eddie Murphy's eighth and only one with Spice Girl Mel B. Seen above (left) on her 11th birthday with her half-sister Bria, Angel was once the subject of a fierce paternity battle. The Nutty Professor star blasted a Dutch television host who raised the possibility that she was his child. "We're not together anymore," said Murphy (per People). "And I don't know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn't jump to conclusions, sir."
A DNA test eventually confirmed Murphy's paternity. "He acknowledges paternity of the child Angel, and has paid child support to Ms. Brown as well as covering the expenses of her pregnancy," Murphy's publicist said in a statement. After an alleged three-and-a-half years of no contact, Murphy made an effort to grow closer to his daughter. In a 2018 interview with fellow Spice Girl Emma Bunton (per Metro), Mel B revealed that Angel now spends weekends with her "lovely" father. "Eddie was and still is the love of my life. He's a genuinely decent man," she Mel B said.
Izzy Murphy and Max Charles Murphy
Izzy Oona Murphy (born May 3, 2016) and Max Charles Murphy (born Nov. 30, 2018) are Eddie Murphy's ninth and tenth kids and, as of this writing, his only two with Australian actress Paige Butcher. Murphy and Butcher became engaged in September 2018 when the actress was pregnant with baby Max.
You'd think the former Saturday Night Live star would be too tired to raise more children, but he and Butcher were reportedly ready for more. "They wished for a younger sibling for their daughter," a source told People. "They live a pretty low-key life. They are all about family. Paige is very close with Eddie's kids." The insider added, "They are a very special and happy family. They vacation and spend holidays together. Paige loves being a mom and is very involved."
With one more child, Murphy could field a football team, but we'll have to wait for that after the Coming to America sequel. Hopefully, they'll all get cameos.
