Twitter Guesses Kimye's Next Baby Name
We're still getting used to the fact that Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have three kids already, but if reports are to be believed, the Kimye clan is about to add yet another new member. Less than a year after daughter Chicago (or Chi, for short) was born via surrogacy, news broke that the power couple was expecting its fourth child, who will also be born using a surrogate mother. According to Us Weekly, multiple sources have confirmed that the surrogate (who is not the same woman they used last time around) is expected to give birth to a baby boy sometime in May 2019.
Of course, whenever West or his wife (or any of the Kardashians, for that matter) do anything, people have an opinion on it. The reality TV star was criticized for using a surrogate to bring baby Chicago into the world, a path she chose because she suffers from preeclampsia and placenta accreta, conditions she described as "high-risk" in an open letter to haters. Some folks are already calling Kim K out on Twitter because she opted to use a surrogate again instead of adopting a child in need, but a whole lot of online banter has focused on one topic — baby names.
In addition to Chicago, Kardashian and West are mom and dad to daughter North and son Saint. At this stage, it's pretty much a given that Kimye's fourth child will have an equally unique name, and the guessing game on Twitter is well underway.
South West
She has most definitely grown to suit the name over time, but when Kim Kardashian and Kanye West decided to name their first child North West, the couple was heavily mocked. Jokes about Kimye harboring a hidden love for navigation were rife, but it turns out these parents weren't inspired by a compass. During an appearance on The View, Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner explained the true meaning of the name, and it's actually super cute. "The way [Kim] explained it to me was that North means highest power, and she says that North is their highest point together and I thought that was really sweet," Jenner said (via the Mirror).
When Kardashian became pregnant with her second child, people joked that the name would be another direction, and the same thing happened again when the public discovered that a third Kimye kid was on the way. As soon as news broke that bun No. 4 was in the oven, the rumor mill kicked right back into action, and it seems as though South West is once again a particular favorite online. "Are we going to get a South West this time?" one user tweeted, and many others were on board with the idea. "My vote is for South West," another fan tweeted.
Calabasas West
If you're a fan of Kanye West (or his merch) then you're probably already familiar with Calabasas, a swanky spot on the outskirts of Los Angeles that many celebs call home. The area was once the site of the famous Warner Bros. ranch, where Hollywood classics such as Casablanca and Sergeant York were filmed. Today, it's a mixture of gated communities and upscale retail complexes. "Will Smith and his family, Michael Jackson's children, and Britney Spears have also called Calabasas home at some point or another," YMZ reports. "But the Kardashians basically own half of the homes and are still perhaps the most well-known Calabasas residents."
This has led many Twitter users to suggest that Kimye will call its fourth child Calabasas, which could be shortened to Cali. Some have suggested the couple could eventually lean into the whole K-name thing the Kardashians are famous for and go with Kalabasas instead, while others have even asked them to zoom out on the map a little and simply call the new addition LA West. We're not sure about that last one, but Cali West does have a ring to it.
Wild Wild West
Remember when we said that Cali West wasn't the worst suggestion to pop up on Twitter? Numerous users have suggested that Kimye should go ahead and name its fourth child Wild Wild West, which would be beyond ridiculous even by Hollywood standards. This suggestion isn't a new one. Back when speculation was rife over baby No. 3, rapper and producer Michael Barber (aka The Irish Jesus) put the name forward in a tweet: "If Kimye West doesn't name their baby Wild West what are they doing?"
Wild Wild (or just Wild, for short) is back in the mix, too, and it's an inexplicably popular choice on Twitter. "Listen, if Kim and Kanye don't name their fourth baby Wild Wild West, I'm going to be disappointed for the fourth time in a row," one user said. Stranger things have happened, but unless Kimye feels the sudden urge to pay tribute to fellow Calabasas resident Will Smith, this one feels like a stretch.
Drake West
Kanye West probably isn't inclined to name his baby boy after a fellow rapper, but if he had to, then you can pretty much guarantee that the name Drake would be at the very bottom of the list — and we're living in an age when rappers sport names like Lil Toenail. West and Drake have been involved in an on-and-off feud since May 2018, when Pusha-T dissed the Canadian rapper on his Yeezy-produced album, Daytona. Drake fired back with a diss track of his own, targeting both Pusha-T and West. The former responded with yet another diss track, upping the ante considerably by outing Drake's secret child.
Arguments over whether or not West told Pusha-T about Drake's secret son (reportedly mothered by adult movie star Sophie Brussaux) ensued, but West denied spilling the beans. The tension never really went away, however, and as 2018 drew to a close, their beef reached new levels. Even Kim Kardashian got involved, shooting a warning at Drake on Twitter. "Never threaten my husband or our family," she said. "He paved the way for there to be a Drake." Somehow, we can't see mom and dad considering this suggestion for even a millisecond, no matter how much the internet begs them to.
Moon West
This one comes out of the left field, and judging from the results of the poll this Twitter user held, it isn't exactly a popular choice. "I was sitting with my sisters and couldn't help but feel excited to hear the name of the next potential baby," @RaifaNasrallah tweeted. "So we were thinking: Moon West. What do you think?" Seventy percent of the people who voted said they didn't like the name, but Moon West isn't that crazy compared to some of the names that others have been suggesting.
One London-based Twitter user offered congratulations to West and Kardashian before coming at them with a cheeky proposal: "Just thinking what a beautiful name this would be for a boy or a girl," @skillsmcgill tweeted alongside a picture of a sign reading Hounslow West, a London tube station. "Let me know if you like it and I can put a huge bet on it and we can share the winnings."
Donald West
It was an inevitable suggestion given West's position on the president. The rapper's relationship with Donald Trump has filled countless column inches, with their meeting at the White House one that will no doubt go down in history. According to Vox, Bloomberg White House reporter Jennifer Jacobs dubbed what unfolded the "wildest Oval Office event" she'd ever seen, and when you see the transcript, it's not hard to understand why. On top of becoming the first person to use the MF curse in the hallowed office, West had the following to say about Trumps' campaign:
"I'm married to a family where there's not a lot of male energy going on," he said. "I love Hillary. I love everyone. But the campaign 'I'm With Her' just didn't make me feel, as a guy that didn't get to see his dad all the time, like a guy who could play catch with his son. There was something about when I put this hat on that made me feel like Superman. That's my favorite superhero. You made a Superman cape for me." For better or worse, the image of West in the Make America Great Again cap has become an iconic one. In fact, on top of guessing the name Donald West, some Twitter users have even predicted Kimye will go with MAGA West.
Bible West
Could Kanye West and Kim Kardashian be tempted to go for something with religious connotations? Names like Grace have long been popular in the States, and the family already has a Saint in its midst. One Twitter user is suggesting that Kimye goes one step further and gives baby No. 4 the most Christian name there is. "Calling it now that Kim and Kanye are going to name their baby Bible," @graceaperalta tweeted. The Kardashians have been known to use the word "Bible!" as a slang term to express that they're telling the truth, so maybe this Twitter user is on to something. After all, Kim K has revealed that she reads a verse from the Bible every single day.
"We don't share it much, but we're really religious," the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star told Vogue. "We start our day with a group chat with a Bible verse from my mom, and everyone chimes in on the meaning of it. We are very Christian — and our work ethic and our discipline comes from so many years at Catholic school." Sister Khloé Kardashian named her firstborn True, so based on Kardashian lingo, Bible West would stick to that theme. Hey, you never know.
Knight West
Whether this guess was innocent or a dig at Kanye West is hard to judge, but needless to say, we're willing to bet the rapper won't be considering the name Knight for his son, as one Twitter user suggested. His latest beef might be with Drake, but West has also had trouble with notorious Death Row Records producer Suge Knight. In 2005, Knight was shot in the leg while attending a party at Miami's famous Shore Club. The party he was at was being hosted by none other than Yeezy himself, with a star-studded guest list that reportedly included Jessica Alba, The Black Eyed Peas, and Kim Kardashian's now-former BFF, Paris Hilton.
None of the above came forward to provide a witness statement, and neither did anyone else who was at the bash, which West had organized as a warm up for the MTV Video Music Awards. Four years later, Knight sued, with his attorney arguing (via Billboard) that because he was "an icon in the music industry" he had an "expectation of security there." The lawsuit was resolved in 2011, but it was hardly a happy time for West and certainly not one that he'll want to be reminded of every time he looks at his child, even it Knight West does roll right off the tongue.
John West
For as long as she's been making babies, Kim Kardashian has had to deal with people talking trash about her choice of names, and not just strangers on Twitter. Back when she revealed that her first child would be called North West, Laila Ali (daughter of boxing great Muhammad Ali) threw shade at the reality TV star in an interview with Hip Hollywood (via Vibe), explaining why she thought "crazy names" for kids were wrong. "You have to think about the child and as they get older what they have to deal with," she said. "A lot of people do things as a fad and they want to get some attention, but it's like, this is your child."
Ali didn't stop there, going on to single out North West as an example of what not to do. "For me, if it's crazy but cool and nice and it makes sense then that's one thing, but North and South and Leaf and Waterdrop and all these names it's like 'Come on now!' I don't care who you are. That's just stupid! Period." This wasn't the first time someone dissed Kimye's choice, and it won't be the last, but what if, after all this time, ma and pa West have started to heed other's advice? Some Twitter users are guessing that Kimye will surprise everyone with a common name like John West.
