Jersey Shore's Mike Sorrentino To Begin Prison Sentence In 2019

Jersey Shore's Mike Sorrentino, who's better known as "The Situation," will be able to spend the holidays at home with his soon-to-be-wife, Lauren Pesce.

According to TMZ, a federal judge in New Jersey has given the reality TV star more time to report to prison ahead of his upcoming sentence on charges of tax fraud. According to court documents obtained by the gossip rag, Sorrentino will now have until Jan. 15, 2019, to surrender himself to the Bureau of Prisons.

As Nicki Swift previously reported, Sorrentino, 36, was sentenced to eight months behind bars with two years of supervised release in early October 2018. He and his brother, Marc, both faced up to five years in jail after pleading guilty to tax evasion in January of this year. In 2014, the IRS had accused them of failing to pay taxes. It is currently unknown where the MTV star will serve his sentence.

Following his sentencing, Sorrentino revealed that he and his longtime fiancée, 33-year-old Pesce, planned to tie the knot in early November. "#Thehitchuation is happening November 1st, 2018. I will be marrying @lauren_pesce My rock, my best friend, my better half & my soul mate," the television personality recently wrote on social media, adding, "You are my everything & I am so excited to call you Mrs Situation #gymtanlaurens."

At the time of this writing, Sorrentino and his attorney have yet to publicly comment on this recent development in his case.

Elsewhere in the Jersey Shore sphere, Sorrentino's longtime castmate Jenni "JWoww" Farley filed for divorce from husband Roger Mathews in late September 2018 after nearly three years of marriage. Citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their split, she is reportedly seeking child support and primary custody of the estranged exes' young children, 4-year-old daughter Meilani Alexandra and 2-year-old son Greyson Valor. However, amid their divorce proceedings, Farley, 32, reunited with Mathews, 43, to celebrate their wedding anniversary with a romantic dinner date.
