Paris Jackson And Cara Delevingne: The Truth About Their Relationship
Paris Jackson and Cara Delevingne became the talk of the town when the rumor mill pegged them as Hollywood's cutest "It couple." A little over a year after they met, the two were spotted all over the globe, and they even shared photos of their budding romance on social media. But gossip really took off when they were captured getting their smooch on in the streets of West Hollywood, Calif. during a double date with Jackson's godfather, Home Alone actor Macaulay Culkin, and his girlfriend, Disney Channel alum Brenda Song.
While their fans were quick to ship their unlikely coupling, Jackson basically crushed their hopes and dreams by labeling things between Delevingne as nothing more than friendship. Did the King of Pop's daughter get pressured by her family to end things with the British supermodel? Or was Jackson more keen on playing the field instead of being tied down? Let's find out as we explore the truth about Paris Jackson's relationship with Cara Delevingne.
Stranger things have happened at the MTV Movie & TV Awards
The stars came out in droves to attend the MTV Movie & TV Awards on May 7, 2017, but it appeared that all of the real action was off-stage at the high-profile Los Angeles event. Both Jackson and Delevingne were in attendance, and a photographer snapped a photo of them posing with Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown. This picture signaled the start of Jackson and Delevingne's alleged fling.
While some may think it's strange that the two took an interest in one another, looking back on their first meeting, we're not too surprised that they hit it off.
Aside from being insanely beautiful, Jackson and Delevingne have a lot in common. For one, they were both signed under the same modeling agency, IMG models, according to OK! magazine. It was also reported that they shared the same hobby — music. "They're both really into their music and have been spending nights singing and jamming on the guitar," The Sun reported.
We would've loved to hear these two on a duet. However, making sweet music for the masses just wasn't in the cards for them — and neither, apparently, was being in a committed relationship.
They were 'never officially exclusive'
Even though they appeared to be completely smitten with one another, neither Jackson nor Delevingne ever went on the record to confirm they were in a relationship. But the truth came out when the National Enquirer tried to paint Jackson as a three-timer (via Gossip Cop)!
The tabloid reported that Jackson had been dating Delevingne, Pretty Little Liars actress Ashley Benson, and DJ Caroline D'Amore at the same time. Jackson clapped back on social media with a tweet that read, "I've never met miss benzo. Caroline is one of my bestest friends who is **straight** and **married**, and also the mother of my godchild." She also added, "Cara and I were never officially exclusive, you guys made that up."
Well, that settles it once and for all. Let's just ignore their make-out sessions and fun slumber parties. Their entire hookup was simply a fling ... or so Jackson says.
They didn't put in the work
After their initial meeting, Paris Jackson and Cara Delevingne spent a lot of time together. "They really hit it off at the MTV Movie & TV Awards in LA in May and have been hanging out since," a source told The Sun.
They posed for various lovey-dovey photos, including a picture of them looking super couple-y with a pair of beautiful white doves (pictured, right). Jackson captioned the picture with the lyrics to John Williams' song "Christmas Star": "Midnight stars, they sail the sky in silence. Hearing all they see, are they hearing me? Christmas star, you watch the world so wisely; at my journey's end, will you be my true friend." Aww!
But the romance was apparently short-lived. By May 2018, Jackson was caught kissing TV personality Tom Kilbey's girlfriend, Molly ... in Kilbey's presence, might we add.
The following month, it was revealed that Delevingne and Jackson had decided to go their separate ways. "They realized that neither are willing to put the effort in to take their relationship to the next level and make things serious," an insider told The Sun.
Despite pumping the brakes on their fling, the duo agreed to keep things amicable. "They will still see each other when they can on a friendly basis but both of them lead extremely hectic lives," the source added.
Was Delevingne to blame for Jackson's 'bizarre' behavior?
Fans were alarmed when Jackson posted a video of herself walking on the ledge of a very tall building in March 2018. She captioned the video, in which she appears to briefly lose her balance, "I almost died!"
The footage allegedly put her famous family on edge — no pun intended — when they noticed similarities between Jackson's antics and the infamous incident when her late father, Michael Jackson, dangled her brother Blanket above the fourth-floor balcony of his Berlin hotel. "But this is worse than that because I still think Michael had control of Blanket and they weren't nearly as high up as Paris is in this video," Jackson's relative told Page Six. "She's lost it. She really has."
Paris Jackson's family reportedly believed that she may have been headed toward a "serious meltdown."
There's no telling if her family encouraged her to stick a fork in her romance with Delevingne, but we wouldn't be shocked if that were the case.
Keeping grandma in the dark
When it comes to her sexual preferences, Jackson shies away from putting herself in a box. "I'm not 'bisexual' I just love people for people. I don't label myself so please don't label me. Thank you!" she wrote on a post in her Instagram Story in July 2018 (via Us Weekly).
No matter who she chooses to date, she gets a ton of support from her devoted fans. However, her family is reportedly not happy about her love life. At. All.
After she began spending most of her free time with Cara Delevingne, a source told Page Six that her family had attempted to hide Jackson's social media accounts — which were littered with pictures of her and the Burberry supermodel — from her grandparents. Family members reportedly didn't want her grandmother, Katherine, to know, as she was dealing with health issues after suffering a stroke. And, well, Katherine allegedly isn't too fond of two women sparking a romance.
"[Paris' grandma Katherine is] not a champion of same-sex couples," the insider told the publication. "In fact, she may even be distraught and believe she failed as a guardian."
It was nothing but a 'flirty friendship'
After meeting at the MTV Movie & TV Awards, Paris Jackson and Cara Delevingne embarked on a worldwide trip. "[Delevingne] invited [Jackson] as guest of honor to her Christmas Burberry X bash in London, before whisking her away to Venice then Prague the weekend after, where they celebrated Christmas early at the markets," a source spilled to The Sun.
The chemistry between the pair was undeniable, but it may have been caused, in part, by Jackson's bloodline. "Cara is quite enamored by the fact Paris is the daughter of one of her musical heroes," the insider said.
However, despite making headlines and appearing to be head-over-heels in love, a source claimed that Delevingne and Jackson were nothing more than friends. Super-close friends. "They have a flirty friendship but aren't dating or in a relationship," the insider told People magazine. "Paris is 19 years old and living her life. She has no plans to settle down any time soon."
Oh well. It was fun while it lasted.
