A Look At Dolph Ludgren's Failed Relationships

If you're an action movie fan, then you've definitely heard of Swedish actor Dolph Lundgren. Since the mid-1980s, the beloved talent has gained notoriety for starring alongside Sylvester Stallone in the "Rocky" franchise as Ivan Drago and as famous comic book heroes He-Man and Frank Castle in "Masters of the Universe" and "The Punisher," respectively. "I got famous young, when I was 27. But I've had some hard times in my career," Lundgren told The Guardian when reflecting on his decade-spanning profession and being considered an "older" actor. "Luckily, in the last four or five years, I've done 'Creed II,' 'Aquaman,' and I've just finished 'The Expendables 4.' I've got some interesting scripts I'd like to direct."

In addition to his continued career in the entertainment industry, Lundgren has also had a life full of romance. From his brief flings with models Janice Dickenson and Paula Barbieri to his short-lived marriage to Perri Momm, the "Aquaman" star is no stranger to the trials and tribulations of heartbreak. Join us as we take a deeper look at some of Lundgren's past relationships.

Dolph Lundgren had a torrid love affair with Grace Jones

One of Dolph Lundgren's biggest love affairs was with actor, model, singer, and industry legend Grace Jones, which took place before his acting career took off. The two former lovebirds first met when Lundgren was hired as her bodyguard in Sydney, Australia. "I was working as a security guy [for] some concerts, and she was there, and she picked a couple of guys to do security, and that's how I met her," he explained in an interview with Blockbuster UK. Between 1983 and 1986, Lundgren and Jones had a torrid love affair full of passion and romance, which included an array of eye-opening escapades like group sex activities. "That happened on occasions, with or without Grace. Sometimes she would bring a girlfriend home, and then I'd have to get up for work the next day and that kind of thing," he revealed to The Sun.

The relationship even jumpstarted Lundgren's acting career due to Jones getting him his first role in the film "A View to a Kill." However, their romance fizzled out shortly after he got his big break in "Rocky IV" as Ivan Drago. "[Grace] met this young student karate fighter in Australia, and two years later he was a movie star," he revealed to The Herald Scotland. " I don't know why it happened so quickly, but it did. It put a lot of strain on the relationship, and we broke up a year later."

Dolph Lundgren was married for 16 years to Anette Qviberg

Years after his whirlwind romance with Grace Jones, Dolph Lundgren soon found himself going down the path of marriage. Following his short-lived union with a woman named Peri Momm, the "Section Eight" actor married interior designer Anette Qviberg. According to American Star Buzz, the pair tied the knot in February 1994 in Marbella, Spain. A few years after getting married, the couple welcomed two daughters — Ida Lundgren and Greta Lundgren — in 1996 and 2001, respectively. While the pair lived a quiet life outside the high-profile lights of Hollywood, Lundgren and Qviberg called it quits in 2011 after 16 years of marriage. While the exact reasoning behind their divorce is unknown, the "Hard Night Falling" star hinted that it may have been due to his infidelity.

"The more I cheated on my wife, the more she wanted to spend my money," he explained on "In Depth Graham Bensinger." "She didn't want to come with me on locations or anything, so she kind of knew I had affairs, but I don't think she cared as long as I paid the bills–– so it was that kind of relationship." Even though the pair's relationship ended in divorce, the former love birds still share an amicable relationship. In 2017, they were spotted on vacation in Marbella, Spain, alongside their two daughters," per Daily Mail.

Since then, Lundgren has been diagnosed with cancer, which he recently spoke about for the first time.
