Details About Kristen Stewart And Taylor Swift's Unexpected Friendship

Taylor Swift has gone through quite a few celebrity friendships over the years, even if the subject hasn't spawned as much gossip as her ex-boyfriends. If you were a fan during the mid-'10s, then you'll remember that Swift's girl squad once boasted big names such as Karlie Kloss, Zendaya, Selena Gomez, and several other "it" girls. And while Swift has definitely since shied away from flaunting her celebrity friendships in recent years, it's clear that several of those friendships didn't stand the test of time. Fortunately, she definitely still has a healthy circle of supportive women around her, including Gomez, who remarked to Rolling Stone in 2022 that Swift was "my only friend in the industry."

Swift was also once friends with Kristen Stewart. Swift and Stewart's friendship commenced during the end of the "Twilight" craze that dominated pop culture from 2008 through 2012. And although Swift was a "Twilight" fan who campaigned for a role in the movie, she and Stewart were compatible for another big reason: they both dated actors from the film. Stewart, of course, dated Robert Pattinson for a stretch of time, while Swift briefly dated Taylor Lautner. Both Swift and Stewart (along with the guys) have since moved on to other relationships, but have they moved on from each other? 

Taylor Swift and Kristen Stewart first stirred up friendship buzz in May 2013, after Stewart's breakup with "Twilight" co-star Robert Pattinson. According to Us Weekly, PopSugar published photos of Stewart in a car en route to a friend's house that was later revealed to be Swift's. Later in the month, the outlet released more details about their burgeoning friendship. "[Stewart] went over with some friends," shared a source. "They have some friends in common and hung out." And while the nature of the hangout was never explicitly revealed, many assumed that Swift was helping nurse Stewart through her failed relationship. 

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear as if Swift and Stewart are a part of each other's lives today. At this point, it's been years since the duo demanded any write-ups. However, it appears that their friendship possibly lasted at least a few years. In 2017, Swift seemingly showed Stewart a little support by attending a screening of her film, "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk," per Just Jared. However, the film also starred Joe Alwyn, who Swift had just started dating at the time. So, maybe we shouldn't put too much hope into this particular friendship. 

Although Taylor Swift spent time with Kristen Stewart after her breakup from Robert Pattinson, OK! claimed a year earlier that Swift actually was gunning to land a date with Pattinson after he and Stewart first broke up. "Taylor's been sending Rob texts and asking if he wants to meet up when they're next in the same city," claimed an insider (via HollywoodLife). "She has always had a thing for Rob, and when she and Taylor Lautner broke up, she let Rob know that she was available, but at that point he was hot and heavy with Kristen." The source also claimed that Pattinson heavily considered the idea. "Taylor is hot, but more than that, he knows Kristen would be crushed — and he's dying to get back at her," added the insider.

While it's unclear if this rumor contained any grains of truth, a few years later, Taylor Swift and Robert Pattinson actually went out on a date. Only thing, it wasn't a romantic outing, but a double date with their respective partners. According to Us Weekly, Swift and Joe Alwyn went on a double date with Pattinson and Suki Waterhouse in 2019. "They were at a table, just the four of them," shared a source. "Rob and Taylor were across from each other."
