How Kanye West Played A Part In Kim Kardashian's Split With Pete Davidson

When it comes to Pete Davidson's love life, he falls hard and fast but, sadly, appears to get kicked to the curb at the first hurdle. Kim Kardashian and Davidson's relationship was one of the most surprising unions of 2021. What wasn't surprising, though, was that Kardashian's ex, Kanye West played a significant part in their breakup.

Per Harpers Bazaar, the couple came in like a hurricane and went out like a cool breeze. They first met at Kid Cudi's birthday party in January 2019. Kardashian tweeted photos of Ye, Timothée Chalamet, Cudi, and Davidson seated around a table laughing together —well, Ye was more lurking on the sidelines. Kardashian was fresh off her split from Ye when she and Davidson collided again on "Saturday Night Live" in October 2021. After sparks flew between the two, Kardashian was thrown off guard.

"Oh, my God, I wasn't planning on this. And this isn't even what I was thinking of, and it just makes it that much sweeter and so much more fun," she told the "Making Space" podcast. "Sometimes ... you just happen to be open to it." Ironically, Davidson and Kardashian were first romantically linked after being spotted together on a rollercoaster ride at California's Six Flags Magic Mountain on Halloween weekend. From then on, it was hot and heavy, until suddenly, out of the blue, it wasn't, because Ye y'all. So, how did Kanye West play a part in Kim Kardashian's split with Pete Davidson?

The wrath of Ye

It's better to ask, "How didn't Kanye West play a part in Kim Kardashian's split from Pete Davidson?" The U.S. Sun reports that Ye immediately went on a social media rampage after the two began dating, calling Davidson derogatory names, promising violent attacks against him, and blaming the "Saturday Night Live" alum for breaking up his family. The comedian was Kim's first romance post-Ye, and the musician was clearly tripping over his baby momma moving on to new pastures.

Ye landed a 24-hour Instagram ban in March 2022 for his menacing missives. But he was still going at it a month after the couple split with a disturbing post about sending Davidson to the trauma ward. According to the New York Post, Ye also attacked Davidson in his song "Eazy," claiming God saved him from his crash so he could "beat Pete Davidson's a**." And in the video for the track, he simulated kidnapping the comedian and burying him alive.

Per Capital FM, Kim confessed to her sister Khloé Kardashian and Scott Disick in a recent episode of Hulu's "The Kardashians" that she felt awful over Ye's appalling treatment of Davidson. "There was like a lot of guilt. He went through a lot because, you know, of my relationship," she said. "I'm single, and I'm not ready to mingle, and that's OK. Breakups are just, like, not my thing," she admitted. "It's obviously sad ... [Nine months] is a long time."

One rule for Ye and another for thee

Sadly, Kim Kardashian has resigned herself to coping with Kanye West's wrath. She said that any future partner must be equipped and willing to deal with potential attacks from Ye. "My person will be like, f**k all of that," Kim told Khloé Kardashian and Scott Disick during "The Kardashians," as noted by the New York Post. "Like, it's gonna be hard, but we're together, and we're gonna, like, do this, so I'm just waiting for that person."

Meanwhile, in a classic case of double standards, Ye has been enjoying more than his fair share of new romances without a single menacing word from his ex. TMZ reports that the single father was spotted getting cozy with a mystery blonde at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills in January; the pair were also snapped out and about at various other Hollywood hotspots. In addition, the rapper was previously linked to Julia Fox and Chaney Jones. Although both relationships were short-lived, Jones ended up with an unfortunate permanent reminder of her time with Ye after breaking the cardinal rule of tattoos and getting her new boyfriend's name inked on her wrist.

Meanwhile, despite suffering a barrage of abuse from her ex, Davidson appears to have maintained a close friendship with Kim. Per People, nine months after their nine-month relationship ended, the former couple was spotted chatting and laughing at the 2023 Met Gala while talking to Usher.
