Elmarie Wendel, 3rd Rock From The Sun Actress, Dead At 89

Elmarie Wendel has sadly passed away.

On Sunday, July 22, 2018, the actress' daughter, Jennifer "JC" Wendel, took to Instagram to announce that her mother, who was best known for her portrayal of Mrs. Mamie Dubcek on 3rd Rock from the Sun, has died. She was 89 years old.

"#ripelmariewendel you were a great mom and a bada** dame," she wrote, captioning a snapshot of the '90s sitcom's cast on a magazine cover. Honoring her mother's work in the entertainment industry, she added the hashtags, "#thirdrockfromthesun #mrsdubcek #georgelopez #thegeorgelopezshow #littlemarysunshine #nancytwinkle #broadway #coleporter #vegasheadliner."

At the time of this writing, further details surrounding Wendel's death have yet to be revealed. 

In addition to her work on the hit NBC series, the actress appeared on a number of TV shows throughout her five-decade career, including General Hospital, George Lopez, Knight Rider, Murphy Brown, NYPD Blue, Seinfeld, The Facts of Life, The Jeffersons, and Murder, She Wrote.

After news of Wendel's passing broke, her former co-star Jim Beaver took to social media to share his thoughts and express his condolences. "I've just heard from her daughter JC that my friend and colleague from 3rd Rock from the Sun, Elmarie Wendel, has died," the actor, who played Happy Doug on the show, tweeted. "She was raucous, funny, endearing, and terribly, terribly sweet. Goodnight, Mrs. Dubcek, wherever you are."
