Celeb Kids Who Were Caught On Camera Acting Like Spoiled Brats
With the rise in overnight TikTok celebs and Gen-Z rejecting the grind, we're living in times of increasing aspiration and desire for fame. Accordingly, being the kid of a celebrity is a guaranteed meal ticket to wielding an advantage over the competition. Treated to the finest living standards, luxury vacations, and designer garb, celeb kids enjoy a lifestyle that we mere mortals can only dream of. For instance, Beyoncé and Jay-Z's daughter, Blue Ivy, is lavished with the most opulent and eye-poppingly expensive gifts, the likes of which would even make some adult A-listers blush.
But being a celeb kid isn't as rosy as it seems. For all their riches, the progeny of the rich and famous often get caught up in flagrant faux pas. And succumbing to public scrutiny means that their every move is documented by the watchful gaze of the paps — temper tantrums included.
With all the recent discourse surrounding nepo babies, the offspring of celebrities are facing greater backlash than ever. It's one thing to be a nepo baby, however, and quite another to be a nepo brat. Accordingly, a number of celebrity kids have been known to be more than a tad entitled, throwing fits, attacking nannies, and even shading their own parents. But such indiscretions are all the more cringeworthy when caught on camera for the entire world to see. These kids may be stinking rich, but their public conduct just plain stinks. Let's take a look at the celeb kids who were caught on camera acting like spoiled brats.
Reign Disick demanded candy on The Ellen Show
The Karjenner clan is known for its mighty brood. With ex Scott Disick, Kourtney Kardashian has three kids: Penelope, Mason, and Reign. And it's the latter who reigns supreme as the brattiest.
In 2019, several of Kris Jenner's grandchildren joined her on "The Ellen Show," including Reign and Kim K's little ones, Saint, North, and Chicago. While the erstwhile Mrs. Kardashian-West's children were thoroughly well behaved – infant Chicago included – the same could not be said for Reign. Having lived a life of privilege in which the word "no" is likely a rarity in the household lexicon, Reign acted like he owned the joint.
The youngster constantly disrupted the interview, with his mom's pleas to settle down proving fruitless. Eventually, he had a full on temper tantrum, yelling at the top of his tiny lungs that he wanted candy. Grandma Kris promised to give him some cake if he agreed to settle down, but the little rascal demanded to have his candy right there and then. "But I need candy!" he screamed. He then outright ruined Kourtney's big announcement that Kim's surrogate had gone into labor, yelling over his mom the entire time. "I'm done with this conversation," Reign interjected. Meanwhile, Kim's children looked on in horror. This wouldn't be the last time Reign acted bratty on camera. On an episode of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," he demanded a cough drop from his mom, insulted her, and then proceeded to hit her with his toy. Charming.
And years later, Reign was still misbehaving
Age hasn't mollified Reign Disick. Years after the Ellen incident, he's still causing public drama. In 2021, he appeared in his stepsister Alabama Barker's TikTok (via E!) where he dropped an f-bomb and began twerking for the cameras.
Then, in 2022, he was caught on camera (via The Sun) flipping the bird to photographers while eating candy (naturally). Also that year, he was snapped having an apparent tantrum at the opening of a restaurant in Los Angeles. The then 7-year-old was assigned with helping to cut the ribbon, a task that he clearly wasn't too pleased about. Once again, he was caught flipping the bird to photographers, but treated them to both middle fingers this time. "Kourtney doesn't know how to parent, every time I see her kids they're always doing something bad," a fan argued. "Kourtney's children are honestly so spoilt and aren't disciplined at all!" commented another.
And he isn't the only Disick kid to be misbehaving. His sister, Penelope, once attacked her nanny. These mounting incidents have led to fans branding Kourtney a bad mom. Responding to the parenting backlash in an interview with Rose Inc, she insisted that she's not interested in receiving unsolicited advice from social media users. "No matter what it is that I am doing, someone has something to say, good or bad," she said. "The worst, though, is when people I don't know give unsolicited parenting advice. No one knows my kids better than me, I've got this, I'm good, thanks."
Barron Trump fell asleep during his dad's speech
Since his parents left the White House, Barron Trump has been keeping a low profile. But throughout his father's presidency, he was relentlessly subjected to reproachful scrutiny. And much of the public ire directed at Donald's mini-me stemmed from his apparent entitlement. From the moment he was born, Barron has seemingly been spoiled, given his own floor in his parents' $100 million mansion and a gold stroller courtesy of Ellen DeGeneres. Having been raised in immense opulence and wealth, it's inevitable that his privilege would slip up every now and then.
In 2016, the then 10-year-old was seen yawning and practically falling asleep during his father's speech at the Republican National Convention. The youngster was first caught fidgeting during the event, picking at his chair, and becoming increasingly restless. While sections of the public would certainly find such behavior amusing, Donald is, after all, his father and the tween was being rather disrespectful during his big moment.
This wouldn't be the last time he was captured acting entitled in the presence of his father. When Donald was sworn in as president in 2017, Barron was again seen yawning. While this may be attributed to youthful malaise, Barron could have at least hidden his yawns, as opposed to being brazen in his boredom. Then again, perhaps he gets this audacious persona from his father. "He is independent and opinionated and knows exactly what he wants," Melania told Parenting magazine (via Us Weekly). "Sometimes I call him little Donald."
Suri Cruise has had one too many temper tantrums
We can only imagine the baggage that comes with being the daughter of Tom Cruise. As such, we'll let Suri Cruise get away with the odd flare-up. But, Suri, even your stans have their limits. The youngster has been caught having full blown tantrums on several occasions.
In 2011, Suri was snapped throwing a tantrum in a toy store. Doing her best Veruca Salt impression, the 5-year-old appeared to cry and scream when she seemingly didn't get her own way. This is, after all, a kid with a reported $100,000 shoe collection, so we can't blame her for feeling just a little entitled to the riches of the toy store. Her mom, Katie Holmes, could be seen kneeling by her, perhaps to give the troublemaker a good talking to.
The following year, the then 6-year-old was captured screaming after her mom appeared to take her ice-cream away. Likely accustomed to her daughter erupting into screaming fits, Holmes took Suri's behavior in her stride and did not appear to acquiesce to her demands. And it seems that the "Dawson's Creek" alumna did the right thing: according to the CDC, the best way to stop a tantrum is to ignore it. It is, however, worth noting that the CDC guidelines are directed at the parents of screaming toddlers, not 1st graders. Having said that, this was nothing compared to dad Tom's tantrums. To paraphrase Tom, "Suri, Suri, Suri. You're glib. You don't even know what a temper tantrum is."
Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte have been caught getting bratty in public
Royal kids are born into a special kind of generational privilege that usurps that of new money celebs. It therefore comes as little surprise when they act brazenly spoiled and entitled. Prince William and Kate Middleton's kids appear to be the cheekiest of them all, having been caught on camera acting like right royal brats.
In 2019, Middleton attended the King's Cup with her daughter, Charlotte. She encouraged her child to wave to the camera, but Charlotte stuck her tongue out before giving an impish grin. Her mom swiftly ushered her way. Similarly, Charlotte's younger brother, Louis, has been caught acting in a manner most unbefitting of the fourth in line to the throne. During Platinum Jubilee celebrations (via Express) in 2022, Louis had a full on tantrum in public. His bratty antics included covering his ears and screaming during the Trooping of the Color, putting his hand over Middleton's mouth, and pulling a rude face when she attempted to calm him down.
"Perhaps Louis is just a little brat," remarked news anchor Mike Parry. Twitter users shared these sentiments and suggested that Middleton is a bad mom. "Kate does not raise her kids," wrote one user. "They don't respect her ... That's sad to see." However, family therapist Kaitlin Soulé told the New York Post that the prince's behavior was nothing out of the ordinary for a four-year-old. "With children around his age, part of their developmental task is to push boundaries," she explained.
David Gilmour's son was caught defacing a war memorial
Pink Floyd frontman David Gilmour is worth a reported $180 million. It's safe to say, then, that his kids never need to worry about student loan repayments. Nevertheless, that didn't stop his adopted eldest son, Charlie, from acting like a major entitled brat during student protests in the UK.
In 2010, there was widespread outrage after the UK government announced that annual college tuition fees would rise from £3,375 ($4,250) to £9,000 (around $11,300). Subsequently, protests swept across the country. While the overwhelming majority of these were peaceful, Charlie ended up giving the demonstrators a bad name when he was captured swinging from the Cenotaph, a war memorial honoring those killed in WWII. The then 21-year-old also scared the living daylights out of King Charles (then the Prince of Wales) and Camilla when he appeared to join protestors in attacking their car. In a stark reflection of his privilege, he said that he didn't know what the Cenotaph was as he'd led a sheltered life in the countryside. He was sentenced to 16 months in prison, but released after just four months.
However, Charlie insisted that he joined the protests because he genuinely cared about the plight of students less fortunate than himself. In his book, "Featherhood," he expressed remorse over his actions. "To think that I did all those things is frightening," he wrote. "What's even more frightening is the fact that the part of me that did them is still in there, somewhere, resting."
Jennifer Lopez's son had an epic tantrum in public
Seeing as Jennifer Lopez often gets hailed as a diva — and has been accused of unleashing full-blown tantrums — it's unsurprising that the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. In 2012, her son, Max, was filmed having a major tantrum in the middle of the street. He kicked and screamed, as his mom attempted to calm him down. The naughty youngster then ran off, before a security guard thankfully scooped him up. By all accounts, Max's parents were accustomed to his bratty behavior. His dad, Marc Anthony, gave a TMI anecdote regarding his Machiavellian, not to mention expensive, antics. "He had an accident in the pool. It got into the filtration system and they charged us to clean it," Anthony told Jay Leno (via the Daily Mail). "That was expensive. 'He took a $6,000 dump in the pool!"
And years later, Max was still having public tantrums. Appearing on the red carpet with his mom and twin sister, Emme, to promote the film "Home" in 2015, the then 7-year-old scrunched up his little face and sobbed. His sister looked equally bored and moody but kept her cool, as she and mom J.Lo ignored Max's outburst.
Chatting to Entertainment Tonight, Emme admitted that she's become habituated to her brother's troublesome behavior. "OK, so my brother ... he's crazy sometimes, he's very loud in a good way of course, sometimes," she divulged. "Yeah, so he's a challenge to get along with 'cause he's my brother."
Liam Gallagher's son was caught abusing grocery store workers on CCTV
Being the son of rowdy Britpop bad boy Liam Gallagher is certainly a lot to live up to. But we think that Gene Gallagher's got it covered. Despite being the son of a multimillionaire rockstar, Gene and his pals allegedly decided to steal a $2 alcoholic beverage from a Tesco grocery store, which is comparable to a British Walmart, in 2019.
The incident was captured on CCTV (via Ham & High) and Gene was charged with assault and racially abusing staff. He was ultimately not convicted of the alleged offenses — in exchange for agreeing to stay out of trouble in future. Nonetheless, the judge, Joanna Greenberg, condemned him for his entitled behavior and disrespecting workers in a markedly less privileged position than himself. "Your behavior on this occasion when you entered the Tesco store was, in my view, completely out of order," she told the then 20-year-old Oasis progeny. "It's hard enough when people running a late-night store encounter entitled young men thinking they can get what they want by misbehaving, and that's what you did."
One doesn't have to look very far to see where Gene cultivated that aforementioned entitled persona from. Following the judge's admonishment, dad Liam went on an unhinged Twitter tirade against Greenberg. "Judge Judy can kiss my a***hole from 1 entitled p**** to another," he wrote. In a separate tweet, he continued, "If ya can't steal from your local Tescos where can you steal from eh [sic] this country is over."
