David Foster Opens Up About Katharine McPhee Engagement
David Foster is breaking his silence on his latest relationship news.
During his Thursday, July 12, 2018, appearance on Access Live, the legendary music producer publicly commented on his recent engagement to Katharine McPhee for the first time.
"We're all great, we're all happy," Foster said. "And you know, for some reason, the two of us, one plus one makes four instead of two. So it seems like it's interesting news to people, so we're just gonna roll with it."
As Nicki Swift previously reported, Foster, 68, popped the question to McPhee, 34, on top of a mountain in Italy's Anacapri during their vacation to the island of Capri earlier this month. "Totally dark stars," the American Idol alum later described the proposal. "Thankfully he didn't push me off the cliff," she jokingly added. "He said it was one or the other. And in the end he spared me."
The engagement news came just months after the long-rumored couple made their red carpet debut at the 2018 Met Gala. At the time, McPhee revealed that she and Foster, who finalized his divorce with Yolanda Hadid in October 2017, were having a "fun date night." While the happy couple's upcoming nuptials will mark McPhee's second marriage, it will be Foster's fifth.
The music icon's daughter Sara previously commented on her father's new relationship. Noting that she and her siblings "totally approve" of McPhee during an interview with Us Weekly, she added, "I mean, listen, we approve of whoever is going to be good to my dad at the end of the day and we're very honest about it. If we ever thought that anyone was in something for the wrong reasons, we would be very vocal about it. We just want someone that's going to treat him well and that cares about him, and I think he's with someone right now that really does."
Foster and McPhee aren't the only celeb couple to recently make headlines with their whirlwind romance. Justin Bieber surprised fans earlier this week when he confirmed his engagement to new fiancée Hailey Baldwin. The on-and-off couple had just sparked rumors of their rekindled romance in June. Meanwhile, comedian Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande, who came to Bieber's defense after his quick engagement was met with online criticism, got engaged last month after only a few weeks of dating.
