Why Brooklyn Beckham Took His Wife Nicola Peltz's Last Name After Their Wedding

There is a lot of star power that comes with the name Beckham, but David and Victoria's son Brooklyn made a drastic change to it when he got married to Nicola Peltz.

Peltz and Beckham first met in 2019 when they were spotted at a Halloween party with one another, per US Weekly. Things moved quickly for the couple, and by 2020 Beckham had gotten down on one knee and proposed to the "Transformers: Age of Extinction" actor. Peltz announced the news on social media and wrote, "you've made me the luckiest girl in the world. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life by your side. your love is the most precious gift. I love you so so much baby..." Fast-forward two years later, the pair walked down the aisle in a sweet ceremony in Palm Beach, Florida.

Now, when you get married a lot can change, from where you live to your last name. Typically, in most marriages, women will go ahead and take their partner's last name. But, Peltz and Beckham took an untraditional approach. When the couple tied the knot, Beckham decided to become Peltz-Beckham. Although many were confused by Beckham taking Peltz's last name, the 24-year-old has his reasoning behind the decision.

Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz are a match made in heaven. From the moment they first got together, it seemed evident they were destined for one another. So, when the time came for them to tie the knot, Beckham wanted to show how much he loved the actor by taking on her last name, per The Sun. A friend of the couple told The Sun, "Brooklyn is head over heels for Nicola — it's a huge sign of his commitment to her, and his love for her." Although it isn't the typical route many couples take, Beckham was more than happy to add to his already famous last name.

A couple of months after they wed, Beckham revealed to E! News Daily Pop his reasoning to take Peltz's name. He shared, "I just thought it was different. Not many guys take their wives' names. So, I was just like, 'Why not?' It fit really cool together." Peltz-Beckham does seem to have a nice ring to it, and the 24-year-old definitely thinks so. However, in this day and age, nothing seems official until it's on social media. And not long after they walked down the aisle, Beckham shared the name change on Instagram. Beckham posted one of the photos from their wedding with the caption, "Mr. & Mrs. Peltz Beckham." So, whether people like it or not, Beckham is proud to take on his wife's last name.

Brooklyn Beckham, or should we say Peltz-Beckham and Nicola Peltz's love has only grown stronger since getting married. Through their reported feud with Victoria Beckham and backlash for getting married so young, the couple has only proven their affection can withstand anything. In fact, the pair celebrated their anniversary in April 2023.

Time flies because Beckham and Peltz have already put one year of marriage down in the books. In honor of their anniversary, Beckham shared a sweet post for his wife. He wrote, "1 year ago today I married my best friend xx I am the luckiest person to be able to call you my wife...here's to many more years baby xx I love you so so so much x here's to having as much fun when we are old as we are now young." Peltz reciprocated Beckham's feelings through her own post as she voiced her love for the 24-year-old.

It's evident how much Beckham and Peltz care for one another, and are continuing to look toward the future, especially when it comes to creating a family of their own. Beckham told People Magazine, "I could have had kids yesterday. Obviously it's my wife's body, but I've always wanted to have a bunch of kids around. That's something I really want to do."
