Patrick Mahomes' Brother Jackson Has A Track Record Of Causing Controversy
The Mahomes name demands attention, but not all of it is flattering. While Patrick Mahomes is a beloved NFL star whose professional achievements and net worth match his level of public admiration, his brother Jackson Mahomes usually warrants a less positive response. While Patrick makes his $45 million a year salary from football, Jackson's bread and butter is social media content. Basically, he's an influencer with a large, devoted fanbase — 1 million followers on TikTok alone! And while we're not ones to knock anyone's hustle, his public presence has often rubbed people the wrong way.
Much of Jackson's social media content consists of him dancing and flaunting his proximity to Patrick (and all the privileges that come with it). Over the years, Jackson's detractors have referred to him as obnoxious, immature, and arrogant. And those are some of the kindest insults! Until May 2023, social media criticism was the most that Jackson had to worry about. However, Jackson was arrested for sexual battery on May 3, 2023, according to People. Per the outlet, Jackson is accused of assaulting Aspen Vaughn, a bar owner. Jackson has denied any wrongdoing and is currently out on $100,000 bond. If Jackson is found guilty this will be his most serious offense, but he's had quite a history with causing controversy.
Jackson Mahomes made a huge Super Bowl blunder
Patrick Mahomes and his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, took home Super Bowl rings in 2023. According to Radio Times, the game's final tally was 38 to 35 in the Chiefs' favor. The publication exalted Patrick for winning despite playing on an injury. This win also marked the second time that Patrick has been victorious at the Super Bowl. Naturally, Patrick's win warranted intense celebration. However, many of his fans didn't appreciate the way that Jackson Mahomes chose to celebrate.
While Patrick was speaking with a reporter, Jackson glided into frame and posed for a short video. Because Jackson's back was turned to the camera at first, it's possible that he didn't realize he was infringing on his brother's big moment. However, social media didn't lend him as much grace. Under a Twitter video of the moment, social media posted exactly what they thought of Jackson. "That kid has no boundaries......most ppl look at him like a clown," tweeted one fan. Another user tweeted, "Have a seat Jackson. It's your brother's night with his team. Just bad form and poor taste as usual where Jackson is concerned."
This isn't the only example of Jackson's questionable game day conduct. In 2021, Jackson threw water at Baltimore Ravens fans, per CBS Sports.
A business once criticized Jackson Mahomes for maligning them
Jackson Mahomes' social media feeds are full of his leisure activities, which sometimes includes eating at various restaurants or bars. In 2021, Jackson publicly criticized a bar after they didn't serve his large group of friends due to lack of space (via USA Today). Jackson's social media presence wasn't quite as large then, but he still made enough noise that the company in question saw his post. And they responded! "We are sorry that you have the reach that you do, or at least that you think you do and that instead of using it for something positive you decided to use it to try and crush a small business," read the company's Facebook post. "We survived a global pandemic, we'll survive your ego."
The company continued, "We are sorry you didn't reach out to us first before taking to social media, but then again that is an expectation we would have from a mature and rational person, not someone who pours water on fans and dances on the memorials of tragically lost people for TikTok clout" (via the New York Post). They added, "We have not been fortunate enough to be born into a much more talented and much more famous family but we would like to think that if we did have that much luck — we would use our influence in more responsible ways."
