Rebecca Soteros: What We Know About The Mother Of Paul Walker's Daughter Meadow
In November 2013, Paul Walker died in a major car crash at only 40 years old. He left behind his loving family and his only daughter, Meadow Walker, who was just 15 at the time of the accident.
Paul, who shared his daughter with his ex-girlfriend Rebecca Soteros, prided himself on being a father and was known to have a great relationship with Meadow until his death. His brother, Cody, told People in 2018 how much the actor enjoyed his role as a single dad. "He loved being a dad. He was so proud of her," he said. Paul's father, Paul Walker III, also said of the late star, "Paul thought the world of her. No father loved a child more than he did Meadow."
Almost 10 years since his tragic death, Meadow has grown up to be absolutely gorgeous. She is now making a name for herself as a fashion model, having made her runway debut at the Paris and New York Fashion Weeks in 2021. She's also since settled down. Meadow exchanged vows with her fiancé Louis Thornton-Allan in a gorgeous beachside ceremony held in the Dominican Republic in October 2021. (Her godfather, Paul's "Fast & Furious" co-star Vin Diesel, famously walked her down the aisle.) Meanwhile, Meadow's mother has continued to keep an extremely low profile throughout the years. Here's what we know about her.
Rebecca Soteros is a school teacher
While Paul Walker had kept his relationship with Rebecca Soteros extremely private, it was reported that the pair first met in early 1998, just as Walker's acting career was beginning to really take off.
The two had been seeing each other casually when Soteros unexpectedly got pregnant with their daughter Meadow. Walker, who was 25 at the time, told WENN in 2013 that he was initially conflicted about his girlfriend's pregnancy. "It was tough. I went to [a] Christian high school and I was told mom and dad were supposed to be together," he explained (via Young Hollywood). "I was one of those ones who believed when you get married, it's forever. But I was thinking down the road." Walker also admitted that he wasn't ready to become a family man just yet. "I was an animal, and so I want to be there and my heart wants to be in it, but the mind just isn't following it," the actor said.
His reluctance to settle down supposedly played a major part in the couple's split. Soon after she gave birth to little Meadow, Soteros moved to Hawaii to start a new life with her daughter. At the time of her pregnancy, Soteros was reportedly making a living as a school teacher but stopped teaching when she moved to Hawaii to focus on raising Meadow. However, she has reportedly since moved back to California and resumed teaching, according to AmoMama.
She was involved in a legal drama with Paul Walker's mother
In 2014, Paul Walker's mother, Cheryl Ann Walker, filed a petition to become the legal guardian of then-15-year-old Meadow Walker, who became the sole heir to her late father's multi-million-dollar estate. In court documents obtained by E! News, Cheryl Ann — who was appointed in Paul's will as the "dedicated guardian" of Meadow — stated that Meadow has been living with her since her son's death. She also claimed that Meadow's mother, Rebecca Soteros, allegedly had a drinking problem.
While Soteros did admit to having two DUIs, a source close to Soteros denied Cheryl Ann's accusations, stressing that Soteros "has never once been incapable of not taking care" of her daughter. Additionally, the insider told the outlet that both Meadow and her mother were blindsided by Cheryl Ann's petition. "They first heard about it when they saw it on TMZ," the source said at the time. "They are very disgusted by this. It's completely thoughtless and disrespectful."
Nevertheless, Paul's mother eventually dropped the petition and Soteros agreed to enter a rehab facility in order to keep custody of her daughter. The matter was eventually settled out of court.
