Hugh Grant Opens Up About Finally Getting Married
Hugh Grant couldn't be happier.
During his Wednesday, June 27, 2018, appearance on the Today show, the Love Actually star opened up about his life as a newlywed.
"It's really nice. I can't pretend it isn't. I should have done it before," he gushed, before praising his new wife, Swedish television producer Anna Eberstein. "I'm just lucky. I'm lucky. I've got a great wife. I love her."
Following a string of high-profile relationships, Grant had become known as Britain's most famous bachelor. However, he tied the knot for the first time earlier this year at the age of 57. As Nicki Swift previously reported, he and Eberstein, 39, married in a low-key ceremony at the Chelsea Registry Office in London on May 25.
Just two years before finally getting hitched, the Notting Hill star had told Howard Stern that he doesn't believe "human beings are meant to be in 40-year-long monogamous, faithful relationships" (via Us Weekly). While Grant added, "I think there's something unromantic about marriage," he admitted, "I can see the lovely aspect if you marry exactly the right person — your best friend and it's cozy and it's lovely."
It certainly sounds like it's the latter case for the newly married pair, who have been romantically linked since 2012. One person who couldn't be more thrilled to see Grant settle down is his ex and old friend Elizabeth Hurley, who spoke highly of the father-of-five earlier this year. "He was over 50 when he spawned them all! He's an enchanting dad — really, really sweet," The Royals star said during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. She jokingly added, "It's improved him. He's gone up the scale."
The happy couple, who welcomed their third child together in March 2018, are also proud parents to a 5-year-old son, John, and a 2-year-old daughter. The Four Weddings and a Funeral star also shares two young children — a boy and a girl — with ex Tinglan Hong.
