Love Is Blind's Wildest Love Triangles, Ranked By Drama
Netflix's "Love Is Blind" has hooked viewers with its own take on reality dating shows — falling in love sight unseen. Season after season contestants sign up to participate in an unconventional experiment — finding a match based solely on genuine connection and not physical appearance. The show takes suitors into pods where they are given the opportunity to speak to potential matches for ten days until deciding whether or not to get engaged to the person of their choosing. After an in-person reveal, the couples are whisked away for a tropical vacation before living together for a few weeks. As they adjust to life outside the pods, they start preparing for their upcoming weddings, where they will either say "I do" or walk away from each other for good.
As with any reality television show, there are messy breakups, hookups, and fights — and the drama doesn't stop just because the cameras quit rolling. Outside of the show, very few cast members have remained together, which leads us to believe that love may not be as blind as producers would like us to believe. It does, however, make for buzz-worthy television that has us wondering why Netflix would even ask us if we're still watching the episode — of course we are. From Cole Barnett's flirtatious ways to Francesca Farago making a crossover appearance in Season 1, "Love Is Blind" continues to keep us guessing. We're taking a look at some of the wildest love triangles on the show, ranked by drama.
Jessica Batten's drama with Matt and Amber Barnett
Jessica Batten may have walked out of the pods with her former fiancé Mark Cuevos, but their relationship ultimately fizzled out when they decided to end things at the altar during Season 1. With the drama of the show behind her, the "Unsettled" podcast host has since gotten married to her husband, Benjamin McGrath, with whom she's expecting her first child. That's not to say that viewers have forgotten the messy love triangle she was wrangled into, however, when she fell for Matt Barnett in the pods, but ultimately chose Cuevos. Batten formed a connection with Barnett while filming the show, but decided to get engaged to Cuevos. The engineer went on to marry Amber, and the two celebrated four years together in November of 2023.
Viewers got an inside look into Batten's relationship — or lack thereof — with Matt and Amber when the former cast members appeared on special episodes of the "After The Altar" special which premiered in 2021. During the cast reunion, Matt and Amber refused to acknowledge their former cast-mate, dubbing Batten "Voldemort" and ignoring her attempts to have a conversation. "I want their marriage to work and if it's with thinking that I don't exist in this world, hey, that's OK. It's most important for me that they work out," Batten told E! News, jokingly adding that even Matt is scared of Amber. "...I think they have a good thing going ... but yeah, I think everyone is a little scared of Amber," she said.
Shayne Jansen's rumored scandal with Shaina Hurley
Shayne Jansen made his debut on Season 2 of "Love Is Blind" where he quickly fell for Natalie Lee. Though he had a strong connection with Shaina Hurley, he ended up proposing to Lee and the two went on to have an up-and-down relationship. The Wisconsin native was left with a broken heart at the altar when his former fiancé decided to end things abruptly. Though the two went on to date each other again following the show, the two ultimately called it quits for good in 2022.
Lee has since claimed that Jansen was unfaithful to her during their time together, exchanging Instagram DMs with his former pod flame Hurley as well as with other women. Hurley and Jansen have both denied anything romantic going on between the pair, with Hurley telling Us Weekly, "The thing with me and Shayne ... it was strictly platonic. Like, we're buddies. We'll check up on each other, you know what I'm saying?"
While viewers got to see Hurley and Jansen's friendship play out onscreen during the "After The Altar" episodes that aired in 2022, Lee was less than pleased with their so-called platonic friendship. "I know what I saw, and I was very uncomfortable with what I saw between them," Lee told People in regards to Jansen's DMs with Hurley. "One thing that the show did not talk about that Shayne and I have text messages and an email talking about him un-sending and deleting messages."
Francesca Farago's surprise entrance to Love Is Blind: After the Altar
Francesca Farago has made quite a few appearances on Netflix dating shows. After falling in love with Harry Jowsey on "Too Hot To Handle" in 2020, she went on to flirt with Damian Powers during episodes of "Love Is Blind: After The Altar." Viewers were shocked to see the Vancouver native strike up a friendship with Powers, especially since he had gotten back together with his former fiancé Gianinna Gibelli at the time. Powers and Gibelli fell for each other on Season 1 of the show, but ultimately Powers decided not to marry the Venezuelan native.
Enter Farago, who Powers met in August of 2020. The "Too Hot To Handle" star was one of the only non-cast members in attendance during the reunion party, and viewers questioned why Powers would bring Farago as his date while seeing Gibelli. "Literally, I have a lot of heat inside me because I felt my blood literally boiling but then I also just felt bad for her. We all know each other. I hate feeling outcasted at parties. I felt bad for her at this point," Gibelli told E! News.
Gibelli and Powers ended up going their separate ways in 2021, and Powers ended up giving things a try with Farago on yet another Netflix show. The two both starred in "Perfect Match," filming the show in 2022. They found they were anything but a perfect match, however, as Farago admitted to Today that the two are no longer on speaking terms.
Colleen Reed got her flirt on while Cole Barnatt
Colleen Reed and Cole Barnett were playing with fire during Season 3 of "Love Is Blind." Reed made connections with both Barnett and Matt Bolton in the pods before deciding to get engaged to Bolton. Barnett ultimately proposed to Zanab Jaffrey, but she rejected him at the altar and the two never rekindled their relationship. When the cast took a trip together following their in-person reveals, things seemed to heat up a bit between Reed and Barnatt in a clip of the two flirting poolside.
The two admit to being attracted to each other, revealing that they both would have approached each other in real life had they never been on the show. "Yes you would be someone who I would go for in the real world," the ballet dancer told Barnett, to which he jokingly replied, "Can we get another drink?" Neither Jaffrey nor Bolton was especially pleased with their then-fiancé's behaviors, but Reed has since opened up about her poolside chat.
"There was definitely more to the conversation that unfortunately wasn't shown (in the episode), where I mentioned that there's a reason why me and Matt are together and Cole and I are not," she told USA Today. "I was very uncomfortable in that situation when Cole opened up that door (to flirting), and I didn't know how to handle it. So I handled it with trying to make the situation nice and make nice comments, and now I know that is extremely inappropriate."
Raven Ross shut down Barnese Bowden's advances
Raven Ross fell for Sikiru "SK" Alagbada during Season 3 of "Love Is Blind," but not before she formed a deep connection with her cast mate Bartese Bowden. Ross went on to accept Alagbada's proposal, and Bowden ended up getting engaged to Nancy Rodriguez, but that didn't stop the Houston native from flirting with Ross. Viewers were less than pleased when Bowden admitted to his then fiancé that he was attracted to the pilates instructor.
"Raven's like the typical girl that I would go after in the real world," Bowden told Rodriguez on the show. "She's hot as sh*t...I literally cried because of you and Raven. Nancy and Raven. I was like, F***." Ross denied all of Bowden's attempts at flirting, however, and told the Texas native that she had found the real thing with Alagbada. Rodriguez continued to fight with Bowden about his wandering eye during their season, admitting her frustration in a confessional interview. "Like what the f***? If you want a tall, blonde, fitness girl go to a body competition, find her there," she said in response to Bowden admitting he had feelings for several women.
Ultimately Rodriguez decided to walk away from Bowden at the altar, and the two are not on speaking terms as of the time of writing. Ross and Alagbada split up in 2023 after the fitness instructor found out he had cheated on her. She currently has a new man in her life, who she revealed she met through Instagram.
Micah Lussier found herself caught between two suitors
Micah Lussier shot her cupid bow at a few suitors during her time on Season 4 of "Love Is Blind." The Washington native had connections with a few men during her time dating in the pods, but her connections with Kwame Appiah and Paul Peden were the most notable. Though she ended up getting engaged to Peden, it wasn't without stealing a few flirt sessions with her former flame Kwame while filming.
Several long-winded conversations between Lussier and Appiah during the show had fans questioning whether or not there were some lingering feelings leftover between the pair. No one was more curious than their partners, however, as Peden and Kwame's former fiancé Chelsea Griffin didn't take too kindly to their interactions. Lussier admitted her talks with Appiah were harmless, admitting to People, "I personally know that when I chose Paul in the pods, I did not waver on that. I never had an interest in Kwame going forward."
In Lussier's opinion, her flirty personality may have led to fans' speculation. "I think the way that I interact with people could come off as flirty, which I totally understand, but in reality, that's how I am, that's how I act," she continued, "I want to stay genuine to who I am. I'm not going to put on a show and be stiff, I was myself." Peden ultimately said no to Lussier at their wedding, and the two attempted to rekindle their connection, but ultimately called it quits in 2023.
Bliss Poureetezadi and Zach Goytowski find each other after a pod love triangle
Bliss Poureetezadi and Zach Goytowski said "I Do" on Season 4 of "Love Is Blind," but it wasn't without a rollercoaster ride of a relationship. Goytowski had feelings for both Poureetezadi and her cast mate Irina Solomonova while filming the show, but he ultimately decided to propose to Solomonova. The criminal defense attorney attempted to pursue a relationship with his former fiancé, but an endless amount of awkward interactions ultimately ended in Solomonova revealing she didn't feel a physical attraction for Goytowski.
Realizing his mistake, Goytowski ended up confessing his mistake to Poureetezadi and asking for her forgiveness. Poureetezadi ultimately gave her former flame a chance to make things right outside of the pods — and the two went on to get married. "I would say I made a mistake with not picking Bliss [in the first place], and I think that was the real mistake," the attorney told Us Weekly. "I knew that when I ended it [with Irina] and was kind of dealing with that. I don't know how much you could see of the turmoil that I was going through, but when I did end it, then my very first thing was I wanted to go and tell [producers] to bring [Bliss] back and that I had made the wrong choice, but I knew I had to live with the decision," Goytowski admitted. Poureetezadi and Goytowski found their way out of this messy love triangle, and the pair is still together as of the time of writing.
Jackie Bonds' ditched her fiancé for another cast member
It's not uncommon that "Love Is Blind" cast members leave the show, their former pod matches, and ultimately find love with another cast member. Jackie Bonds is a prime example of doing just that. The dental assistant found love with Marshall Glaze but ultimately the pair had several issues with communication. Their fights ended their relationship before they got a chance to walk down the aisle.
Bonds went on to date Josh Demas, another suitor she formed a bond with while in the pods. The couple is still together as of the time of writing, but Bonds has received loads of backlash from fans who claim that she cheated on Glaze with Demas. Bonds took to her Instagram in a since-removed Story (per Insider) revealing that she had ended things with her former fiancé before meeting up with Demas at a coffee shop. She went on to add that while fans might think she moved on quickly, she had a deep connection with Demas that wasn't heavily shown on television.
Bonds also apologized for leaked texts that were exposed on Instagram and TikTok. Screenshots obtained by fans show her mocking Glaze and admitting that she had to "make it stretch", referencing her former relationship with her ex-fiancé. "I would also like to apologize and take accountability for my disparaging remarks as well in those leaked messages," Bond wrote, adding, "It was tasteless and disrespectful to speak about anyone that way. It was never a battle between Marshall and I."
Mark Cuevos's messy behavior
Mark Cuevas made his Netflix debut on Season 1 of "Love Is Blind" when it aired in 2020. The Atlanta native fell for Jessica Batten, but ultimately the two couldn't put their differences aside, and they called it quits at their wedding. While the cameras stopped rolling, the drama continued. Cuevas went on to date his former cast mate Lauren "LC" Chamblin shortly after filming wrapped, but he had a different idea about how serious their relationship was then she did. Chamblin found out the personal trainer was seeing other people besides her due to a Reddit post, but Cuevas claims he was never exclusive with his cast mate.
The drama got even stickier when Batten commented on an Instagram post in 2021 that claimed her former fiancé had been sleeping with several women at the gym he worked at. "Wow. News to me. I only know about one," Batten wrote. "Our wedding planning, and, you know, all of these kind of hoops that we had to go through, he was spending time with another woman who he ended up dating for a year and a half actually after the show wrapped," Batten told Entertainment Tonight about her time with Cuevas.
Cuevas has left the ladies of the pods behind him, however. He went on to marry Aubrey Rainey in September 2022, and they welcomed their first child together a few months before the ceremony. Batten tied the knot with her man Benjamin McGrath the same month as Cuevas, and Chamblin went on to star in Netflix's "Perfect Match" which aired in 2023.
