Does Sister Wives' Kody Brown Have A Chance Of Reconciling With His Estranged Wives?
And then there was one. After years of having four wives — albeit three of them were only "spiritual" marriages — "Sister Wives" star Kody Brown, a serial polygamist, suddenly found himself linked to only one woman, Robyn Brown, his only wife in the eyes of the law.
It all started when Kody called it quits with Christine Brown in 2021 after admitting he wasn't attracted to her. Christine said she felt a sense of relief when they split, especially since they'd already "grown apart." The following year, Kody and Janelle Brown revealed that they, too, had decided to break their spiritual union. "Yes, we are separated," Kody shared during the "Sister Wives: One on One" episode, with Janelle confirming that they've "been separated for several months." As it turns out, Janelle was inspired by Christine's decision, although Kody claimed to have attempted to work things out with her. "I'm begging Janelle for a closer relationship. It feels like she's rejecting that and just choosing to have one with Christine," he said in a confessional.
Fast forward to January 2023, Kody and Meri Brown also announced they were parting ways, leaving Kody with only one wife. "After more than a decade of working on our relationship in our own unique ways, we have made the decision to permanently terminate our marriage relationship," they shared in a statement. Interestingly, Robyn admitted that monogamy with Kody was not what she wanted for herself, leading fans to wonder if Kody would ever want to reconcile with his exes or consider marrying someone new. But by the looks of it, he may have better chances of pursuing new relationships.
Janelle Brown is 'not waiting' for Kody Brown
Janelle Brown seems to be enjoying her life post-Kody Brown. In the "Sister Wives: One on One" special, she confessed to feeling "happy" that she has broken free from her decades-long marriage with Kody and noted that their split wasn't as earth-shattering as she thought. "Kody and I have separated and I'm happy, really happy. I don't know, things just really became sort of indifferent, like I just didn't care anymore," she admitted. "I've kind of mourned that that part of our life is gone... I wasn't heartbroken. It wasn't heartbreaking for me like it was for Christine. It was just kind of like... We had this great run."
Janelle also shared that she's "not waiting" for Kody to try and get her back but admitted the only reason she would ever consider a reconciliation is her religion. "My faith requires that we are married eternally," she said.
Kody, for his part, is aware that Janelle appears to be better off without him, but he's not closing any doors to a possible reconciliation. "Janelle's made it pretty clear to me that she's enjoying her life without me," he said in the special. "But I won't go to a place where I'm not respected. Because love doesn't matter to me, respect matters to me." If they were to reunite, he said it would involve "a whole new negotiation."
Meri Brown doesn't want to take Kody Brown back either
Even Meri Brown isn't interested in getting back together with Kody Brown, saying he never appreciated her. During the "Sister Wives: One on One" special, she admitted that Kody never treated her special in their years-long union, and she's not holding on to hope that he ever will. "I don't think Kody realizes the s**t that I am," she said. "If he hasn't realized it so far, you know, maybe he never will and maybe he doesn't want it." And if they ever reunite, only "time will tell," but "it's for [Meri] to decide."
Kody, for his part, doesn't see himself reuniting with Meri because they aren't a good fit for one another. "There was a hardness in our marriage that was so difficult and so antagonistic. I didn't know why we were in it," he confessed. "And why aren't we getting back together? "Because we will go back to the way we were before. There's just no chance that I ever want that again."
As for Christine Brown? She's happily engaged to David Wooley. "David treats me like a queen and tells me I'm beautiful every day," she shared with People. "I've never been in love like this before, and the world seems like a brighter place with him in it."
