XXXTentacion Murder Suspect Arrested
A suspect has been arrested in connection to XXXTentacion's death.
According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office's website, 22-year-old Dedrick Devonshay Williams was booked and charged with first-degree murder on Wednesday evening, June 20, 2018.
"Williams (dob 3/23/96) was taken into custody shortly before 7 p.m. in Pompano," the department tweeted on Thursday morning. "More details will be released later today."
As Nicki Swift previously reported, XXXTentacion (real name Jahseh Onfroy) was shot in his car outside of a Florida motorcycle dealership on Monday, June 18. At the time, police reportedly believed two suspects had ambushed the musician in a possible drive-by shooting or robbery. The "SAD!" rapper, who was facing legal troubles due to his alleged history of domestic violence, was later pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital. He was just 20 years old.
According to video footage obtained by TMZ, XXXTentacion's mother reportedly announced Williams' arrest to friends and family during a vigil held in South Florida. Williams, who is currently being held without bond, was also charged with driving without a valid driver's license and for violating probation.
After the news of XXXTentacion's passing broke, a wide range of celebs took to social media to react. "Rest in peace. I never told you how much you inspired me when you were here," Kanye West wrote on Twitter, adding, "Thank you for existing." Meanwhile, Travis Barker of Blink-182 wrote, "I'm at a loss for words... speechless #RIPXXXTentacion Loved collaborating with you. You were a true artist, one of the most f**king talented of our time."
