Meghan Markle Says Prince Harry Is The 'Best Husband Ever' During Royal Engagement
Meghan Markle couldn't be happier.
On Thursday, June 14, 2018, the royal newlywed accompanied Queen Elizabeth II for a royal engagement in Chester, England, Entertainment Tonight reports. Nearly a month after the royal wedding, the Duchess of Sussex couldn't help but gush about husband Prince Harry while meeting fans during her first royal event without him.
According to an ET source, the former Suits actress, who wore a cream-colored Givenchy dress, said that the prince was the "best husband ever." Markle reportedly went on to say that being married is "wonderful." She added, "I'm really enjoying it."
Both she and the queen, who donned a lime green Stewart Parvin ensemble, were all smiles as they chatted and giggled during their first engagement together, appearing to genuinely enjoy one another's company.
Throughout their day of appearances, Queen Elizabeth, 92, subtly showed Markle the ropes when needed. According to Us Weekly, the newest British royal appeared unsure at one point over who should enter an awaiting royal car first. "What is your preference?" she asked the queen, who responded, "You go first." Markle climbed into the vehicle after saying, "Oh, okay."
According to a previous ET insider, this isn't the first time the duchess has turned to members of the royal family for advice on royal protocol. "She has been warmly embraced by both Kate [Middleton] and Camilla [Duchess of Cornwall]," the source said. "And even Harry has been doing what he can to make sure she feels comfortable and at ease."
The insider added, "Harry, Camilla, Kate, along with [Prince] Charles, whom she's developed a particularly close bond [with], have all been doing what they can to make sure Meghan feels welcomed and loved."
As Nicki Swift previously reported, Markle, 36, and Prince Harry, 33, tied the knot on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. The couple, who have been together since the fall of 2016, announced their engagement last November.
