The NSFW Confession Emilia Clarke Once Divulged About Jason Momoa
When "Game of Thrones" debuted its first season in 2011, viewers soon saw that there was no shortage of violence, nudity, and incestuous relationships. Throw in captivating storylines about wars and dragons, and even non-fantasy lovers became hooked on the series, which ran for eight seasons. Of course, you can't talk about "Game of Thrones" without mentioning Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke. The only daughter of the late King Aerys Targaryen started out as an innocent, wide-eyed princess and soon became known as the fierce Khaleesi after she married Khal Drogo, played by Jason Momoa.
Clarke and Momoa's characters started off on the wrong foot, but in real life, their first meeting was anything but tense. Clarke described arriving at a hotel lobby in Belfast "exhausted" late at night. "I walked in and from the other side of this enormous lobby I hear, 'Wifey!' and this huge Hawaiian man comes bounding over to me, picks me up, and genuinely gets me in like a rugby tackle to the floor ... I was like, 'Who are you?'" per Rolling Stone. Since then, the two became fast friends and have only spoken highly of each other in the media, with Clarke sharing one complimentary detail about Momoa that may have had him blushing.
Emilia Clarke described one of Jason Mamoa's body parts as 'fabulous'
Many scenes in "Game of Thrones" left very little to the imagination, but Jason Momoa was never seen completely nude. During an interview with Glamour, Emilia Clarke shared a tidbit about Jason Momoa that many were probably wondering about. When asked why viewers never got to see Momoa's netherregions, Clarke replied cheekily, "Oh, I did. I saw his member, but it was covered in a pink fluffy sock. Showing it would make people feel bad. It's too fabulous."
Momoa had good reason not to expose himself completely. In the behind-the-scenes book, "Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon: Game Thrones and the Official Untold Story of the Epic Series," author James Hibberd revealed that Momoa didn't go fully nude because of his wife, Lisa Bonet. The actor shared a conversation he had with the showrunner, David Benioff. "[He] has been like, 'Momoa, just take it off!' You know, giving me s***. I'm just like, "F*** you, bro. My wife would be pissed. That's for one lady only, man." Although they are no longer together now, Momoa clearly had the utmost respect for Bonet during their marriage and he also extended his chivalry to his co-star, as well.
Jason Momoa was protective over Emilia Clarke during her nude scenes
When Emilia Clarke joined the "Game of Thrones" cast, she didn't know what she was getting herself into. During the podcast "Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard," Clarke described being "fresh from drama school" and only realized the many nude scenes after she took the role and read the script. "I've never been on a film set like this before and I'm now on a film set completely naked with all of these people, and I don't know what I'm meant to do." After her character's wedding night scene where Jason Momoa's character forces himself on her, Clarke revealed that he was visibly upset afterward. "He was crying more than I was. It's only now that I realize how fortunate I was with that because that could have gone many, many, many different ways."
On how he handled the violent sex scenes with Clarke, Momoa told MTV that it was "one of the hardest things" he's ever had to do. "You know, I've never raped a woman before, which is a good thing and you don't really kind of get to research that." He added that it was hard because he has such love for Clarke and had to separate his feelings in order to project Khal Drogo. After the scenes, Momoa shared that he gave his co-star lots of "kisses and hugs," which clearly shows just how close the two co-stars became during their time on "Game of Thrones."
