Joseph Duggar Welcomes First Child With Wife Kendra

Joseph Duggar is a dad!

On Saturday, June 9, 2018, the Counting On star's parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, took to the family's website to announce that he and his wife, Kendra, have welcomed their first child together, a baby boy.

"We are so thrilled to announce the arrival of our newest grandbaby, Garrett David Duggar," the proud grandparents wrote, while sharing a sweet snapshot of the new family of three. "Kendra and the baby are healthy and happy! Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes!"

Little Garrett was born on Friday, June 8, at 1:36 p.m. Weighing in at 7 lbs. 8 oz., he was 20 1/2 inches.

For their part, the new parents added in the post, "No matter how many times we've experienced the joy of babies born in our families, there's nothing comparable to the joy in our hearts today! Children truly are a gift from God. We are so thankful for his safe arrival and this new journey as parents."

As Nicki Swift previously reported, Joseph, 22, and Kendra, 19, first revealed that they were expecting in December 2017. "I've always dreamed of having my own family and it's really just kind of surreal that it's actually here," the new dad said in a video message on the family's website at the time. "I kind of think it's going to be a boy, but either way, I'm happy just to have a baby."

"I think it could be a girl. You never know!" Kendra chimed in, before sharing some parenting tips the two had received. "The biggest piece of advice that I've heard is just to get lots of sleep." While discussing what traits they hoped their child inherits, the 19 Kids and Counting star said he hopes their little one has his wife's laugh, while Kendra said she wishes their baby has her husband's patience. 

According to E! News, the married pair confirmed their baby's sex in February. Prior to the couple's baby announcement, Joseph and Kendra had tied the knot in a ceremony officiated by the latter's pastor father at the First Baptist Church in Siloam Springs, Ark. last September. The two, who later enjoyed a romantic honeymoon in Greece, had met in church and first began their courtship in March 2017.
