How Cameron Diaz And Kate Hudson's Rumored Feud Over A-Rod Began

Cameron Diaz and Kate Hudson share blonde hair, tan good looks, and successful Hollywood careers. The two also share the same taste in men — they reportedly had an epic A-lister feud after they both fell hard for Alex Rodriguez.

A timeline of Rodriguez's girlfriends reads like a People's Choice Awards seating plan. But from what all of Rodriguez's exes have said about him, he's a seasoned pro at the love game. "I'm in a good relationship," Jennifer Lopez told HOLA! US back in her A-Rod days (via ET). "I feel like this is the first relationship I've been in where I feel like we really make each other better." The singer gushed about the athlete's willingness to be supportive and make his partner happy. "There's a different selflessness in the love that's beautiful and different. And healthy!" Lopez concluded.

In addition to J-Lo, the retired New York Yankees star has used his hitting skills to score home runs with Hudson, Diaz, Bethenny Frankel, and even Madonna. Well, one thing's for sure, A-Rod definitely doesn't have "a type." So, how did Diaz and Hudson's rumored feud over A-Rod begin?

Before there was Alex Rodriguez, there was Justin Timberlake. A year after Timberlake ditched Britney Spears, he dated Cameron Diaz for four years. Things got pretty intense before they split in 2007. Timberlake wasted no time crying himself a river, though. Instead, he reportedly got his sexy back with Kate Hudson. They reportedly had a year-long steamy hook-up.

However, in 2008, Hudson moved on to Rodriguez and they were spotted getting hot and heavy in Miami. Over the following months, she was constantly snapped cheering A-Rod on from the sidelines. Then, just like that, strike out! "It was a turnoff to have a girlfriend who always wanted to be on camera," a source told Us Weekly. "Alex wanted someone who was more interested in building a long-term relationship than just building their profile."

Enter Diaz. She and A-Rod were first seen together dancing at a pre-Super Bowl party in February 2010. There was already beef between Diaz and Hudson over Timberlake, but things turned nuclear over Rodriguez. Diaz was the antithesis of Hudson, rarely appearing at games and keeping their relationship super private. However, by September 2011, it was game over for Diaz and Rodriguez, but extra innings for her and Hudson.

Just one month after she finally confirmed that they were dating, Alex Rodriguez's relationship with Cameron Diaz was over. Diaz was hurt and heartbroken, but Kate Hudson was riding high on a rolling rally of glee. Hudson had suffered a meltdown after learning Diaz was dating her ex and believed she was only hooking up with A-Rod to get even with her for hooking up with Justin Timberlake. "Kate thinks it's payback, pure and simple," a source said.

"Kate hates Cameron," another source told Page Six sharing that Hudson had been boasting about landing the lead in "Nine," instead of Diaz, who'd reportedly really wanted the role. "Kate thinks Cameron is an aging old-lady actress struggling to remain sexy and relevant," the source charged. Diaz apparently found Hudson's allegations hilarious. "She thinks it's a joke Kate would be mad ... Kate is only upset because she hates being single," a friend of Diaz's claimed.

However, it appears that, by 2012, the two had buried the hatchet (and not in each other's backs). They were reportedly spotted playing nice at the Vanity Fair Oscars party that year. The two frenemies apparently hugged and chatted over champagne. And in 2013, Diaz gushed about her "good friend" Hudson to Interview (via Pop Sugar).
