Alicia Silverstone Opens Up About Christopher Jarecki Split

Alicia Silverstone is moving forward.

On Thursday, May 31, 2018, the Clueless star opened up to Entertainment Tonight about her recent split from her rock musician husband, Christopher Jarecki.

"I'm doing great," she told the publication while attending the Los Angeles premiere of her new show, American Woman. "We love our son, [and] everything's good."

While speaking with Us Weekly at the event, the proud mom also discussed motherhood and what it's like watching the former couple's 7-year-old son, Bear Blu, grow up.

"The whole idea is that you love and attach to them so much so that they're free to be and leave. It's heartbreaking, but you have to," Silverstone told the magazine. While pointing at her heart, she continued, "My kid's so fiercely independent because he is right here all the time. He's so great."

When asked if she's protective of her son, the actress said, "I think I'm really just a mommy. It's hard to know if you're doing something wrong."

As Nicki Swift previously reported, Silverstone, 41, officially filed for divorce from Jarecki, 47, on Friday, May 25, 2018. They had announced their separation after 13 years of marriage in February of this year.

"They still deeply love and respect each other and remain very close friends but have mutually decided to separate after being together for 20 years," the actress' rep released in a statement to ET at the time. "They have a son together who they will continue to co-parent."

In court documents filed at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Silverstone cited "irreconcilable differences" and listed the former couple's date of separation as March 15, 2016. While spousal support will be decided in accordance to the exes' prenuptial agreement, she has requested joint legal and physical custody of their son.

After marrying in 2005, Silverstone and Jarecki welcomed their first child together in 2011.
