What Reese Witherspoon's Estranged Husband Jim Toth Does For A Living

Reese Witherspoon confirmed some sad news on March 24 when she announced that she and her husband, Jim Toth, would be going their separate ways after nearly 12 years of marriage. Witherspoon confirmed their split on Instagram in a post with the comments turned off, writing in part, "It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together." They also shared how they were focused on their son Tennessee (the star is also mom to Ava Phillipe and Deacon Phillipe from her previous marriage to Ryan Phillipe), and asked for some privacy.

Today confirmed the "Sweet Home Alabama" actor was the one who then filed for divorce on March 30. The documents also confirmed that was their official separation date. Now, it seems like the former couple's focus will be on settling things, which, as we've seen with celebrity divorces in the past, could potentially take a while. Things will be a whole lot smoother, though, if the couple can amicably decide who gets what ... but what exactly is Toth's job and how much money of his own does he have?

Jim Toth has had a few different roles over the years

When Jim Toth met Reese Witherspoon, he wasn't famous... but he was involved in the world of celebrity. According to his LinkedIn, Toth worked at Creative Artists Agency (CAA) as a talent agent and partner from 1995 until 2019. The company represents some of the biggest celebrities in the world, with Deadline reporting that Witherspoon's now estranged husband worked with major stars like Zoe Saldaña, Matthew McConaughey, Zooey Deschanel, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, and Jamie Foxx. He then moved to the ill-fated streaming service Quibi, where he served as the head of content acquisition and talent until 2020.

Things appeared to change a little for Toth after that, though. His main focus these days appears to be his work on various different boards. As of April 2023, he's a founding board member at Witherspoon's company, Draper James, and he's also on the member board of trustees at the Just Keep Livin Foundation and the Providence St. Johns Medical Center Foundation. But that's not all! He's also an advisory board member at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center Board of Overseers, on the board of directors at Flowcode, and a founding board member at Witherspoon's media company, Hello Sunshine.

Jim Toth has plenty of money of his own

With such an impressive career under his belt, it's no wonder Jim Toth has plenty of his money outside of his estranged wife, Reese Witherspoon. Celebrity Net Worth reported the businessman has a seriously impressive net worth of a whopping $20 million. There's no doubting that's a whole lot of moolah for anyone, but it's still totally eclipsed by Witherspoon's reported net worth. Celebrity Net Worth reported she's earned a massive $300 million over the course of her career.

While it's not yet clear what will happen to the duo's assets, one thing we do have a little more insight into is if the estranged couple plans to keep on working side by side. A source told People that they probably will continue on with their joint ventures and are keeping things amicable as they go their separate ways, explaining, "[They] still plan to work together in various capacities as they've done in the past." They also noted that there's no animosity when it comes to the split. "This is so hard for both of them. There's no drama. These decisions are so difficult when there is so much friendship and love there," they said.
