RHOBH: How Lisa Rinna's Daughters Got Involved In Erika Jayne's Legal Drama
When Tom Girardi's legal schemes were exposed, Erika Jayne's luxurious lifestyle came crashing down in the blink of an eye. The former couple's downfall quickly became a hot topic on "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," as well as the mainstream media. A 2023 report by The New York Times explained that the former attorney was charged with several counts of wire fraud. The charges alleged that he embezzled millions of dollars from clients, which included misusing money that was designated for settlement funds.
As Girardi's case heated up, Jayne was pulled into the allegations, which included a $5 million lawsuit filed against her in 2020, according to Page Six. Jayne, who filed for divorce from Girardi that same year, maintained her innocence amid accusations that she played a part. Jayne later had a huge legal win, as the court ruled that there was no proof the reality TV star knew about Girardi's wrongdoings.
One major complication in Girardi and Jayne's legal drama was that Girardi allegedly used his misappropriated funds to pay for Jayne's lifestyle, which included bills for her company EJ Global, per Radar Online. And that's where Lisa Rinna's daughters involuntarily enter this messy picture.
Erika Jayne shut down rumors about DNA
Erika Jayne slammed rumors that she spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on clothes from Lisa Rinna's daughters' brand. In a lawsuit, Jayne's expenses, as investigated by lawyer Ronald Richards, allegedly included $156,000 paid to DNA, Inc., per Radar Online. "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star's daughters' clothing line, which is no longer in operation, happened to feature those initials.
In 2019, Rinna's daughters' Delilah Belle Hamlin and Amelia Gray Hamlin released their line for DNA, per Bravo. The brand focused on trendy loungewear at affordable prices. Apparently, Rinna played an integral role in the marketing. According to Yahoo!, Amelia told People, "[S]he definitely helped us steer in the right direction when it came to dialing down at the end, what pieces we did want to launch and how people would react to it."
As it turns out, there are two sides to the story. Richards told Radar Online, "We have no reason to believe those charges are for any other company than her friend Lisa Rinna's daughters' company. It looks like she threw them a large bone with these excessive purchases." On the other hand, Jayne's lawyer, Evan C. Borges, explained that the expenses had nothing to do with Rinna. He said, "There was no payment to Ms. Rinna's daughter's company. Rather, my client believes that the payment was probably to a company called David Naylor and Associates for a music video that she did."
Lisa Rinna's daughters have stayed away from Erika Jayne's legal drama
As a close friend of Erika Jayne's, Lisa Rinna has been unsurprisingly dragged into the "RHOBH" star's legal drama. In a 2021 appearance on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen," Andy Cohen asked Rinna, "Did she [Erika] know what Tom was allegedly doing?" Rinna defended her friend's role amid Tom Girardi's wrongdoings, responding, "I think, and I still do, that we need to let this play out because why would Tom Girardi ever tell Erika Jayne anything? She doesn't work at the law firm. There's lawyer-client privilege."
Meanwhile, Rinna's daughters, Delilah Belle Hamlin and Amelia Gray Hamlin have perpetually steered clear from the chaos surrounding Jayne. In fact, the only housewife Amelia seems to have had beef with is Garcelle Beauvais. When Amelia struggled with an eating disorder, Beauvais made an inappropriate remark about Rinna's part in it. In a 2020 "RHOBH" confessional, the actor said, "I love that Lisa's free enough to do the videos and be dancing, but the dancing nearly naked is not a choice for me if I had a daughter that had body issues." As noted by a Comments by Bravo Instagram post, Amelia fired back. The supermodel said, "My question is why would your dancing videos make me 'feel bad'???? Who was she trying to body shame?? Am I fat? Why would that make me sad????? Body shaming is real. And not okay."
