What We Know About Pete Davidson's Mom Amy
Pete Davidson's mother, Amy, made an appearance on the 2019 Mother's Day "Saturday Night Live" cold opening. While she showed her support for her son, she expressed her distaste for the inappropriate jokes he often makes on the show — as one's mother usually does. The comedian acknowledged his mother's concerns with an inappropriate joke punchline.
Jokes aside, Davidson was only 7 years old when his father died, saving lives as a firefighter during the 9/11 terrorist attack. Davidson has been a comedian for most of his life. He mentioned that making "The King of Staten Island" has helped him cope and move on from the loss of his father. "I wanted to be able to move on and show that it's okay to have issues," he told Sky News. "You're not alone and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel."
In 2015, Davidson attended an event for the New York Police and Fire Widows' and Children's Benefit Fund alongside his mother, honoring the hero that his father was. Fellow "SNL" cast member Colin Jost and his mother were also in attendance, as Jost's mom was a first responder during 9/11. It seems that Pete Davidson and his mother have an unbreakable bond.
Pete Davidson purchased a house with his mother
Pete Davidson's mother, Amy, was a school nurse at Xaverian High School in Brooklyn. It's reported that she prefers to stay out of the spotlight and the high-profile life that her son is living. But that certainly doesn't stop her from sharing photos of the comedian on her Instagram page. She has also made appearances in "Saturday Night Live" sketches.
In an April 2019 interview on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Davidson revealed that he was living with his mother. "We bought a house together, but nobody believes that," he said. "I live with my mom, kind of." He mentioned that in their shared house, there's a basement that's "like an apartment." At the time, he said that he was working on turning it into an arcade-type of room to make the space his own.
It was then reported that the house was sold to Davidson and his mother for $1.3 million. It has four bedrooms and four bathrooms, a private master wing, and a custom kitchen. Before purchasing the house with his mom, the "SNL" alum lived with his ex-fiancé Ariana Grande. The comedian eventually moved out of his mother's house in April 2021.
Pete Davidson's mother is always looking out for her son
Although Pete Davidson's mother, Amy, seemingly prefers to stay out of the spotlight, it doesn't stop her from voicing her opinion on her son's many high-profile relationships. It was reported that the comedian's mother was concerned about his relationship with Ariana Grande. She was worried that moving too fast would be detrimental to Davidson's mental health. Amy eventually "grew to love" the singer, though.
Amy also gave her approval for the comedian's relationship with Kim Kardashian. "She thinks she is perfect for her son and doesn't care about her fame or her money," a source told Hollywood Life. "Amy only cares about how a woman treats Pete, and she's never seen anyone treat her son with so much love and respect."
And when Davidson started dating Emily Ratajkowski, it was reported that the comedian gushed to his friends — and his mother — about the model. It was then said that Amy was excited to meet Ratajkowski and thought that she was a really good match for her son because EmRata is a devoted single mother with New York roots.
