How Many Siblings Does Macaulay Culkin Have?
Macaulay Culkin has remained a household name since his rise to fame in "Home Alone." In a special features video for the beloved family film, director Chris Columbus detailed why he chose Culkin for the part of Kevin McCallister following seeing many hopefuls. "After meeting 400 other kids, I realized that there was no one as special, or as unique, or as talented as Macaulay," Columbus said. "The camera loved him, he just was infinitely relatable to people all over the world."
During an interview to promote the release of "Home Alone," Culkin shared that his family members weren't fazed by his Hollywood success. "Everyone treats me the same," Culkin said, according to The Hollywood Fix. In "Home Alone" and its sequel, "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York," Culkin's character was part of a large family. As BuzzFeed wrote, Kevin McCallister had two sets of aunts and uncles and nine cousins, along with four siblings: Linnie, Jeff, Buzz, and Megan. Off-camera, Culkin also has numerous siblings in his family unit.
Macaulay Culkin has seven brothers and sisters
Macaulay Culkin is one of eight children. Per Hollywood Life, Macaulay's older siblings are Shane and Dakota, while his younger siblings are Kieran, Rory, Quinn, and Christian. Furthermore, he has a half-sister, Jennifer Adamson, whom Macaulay's dad fathered in a past relationship. Sadly, two of Macaulay's siblings have died. Dakota died from being hit by a car in 2008, while a drug overdose caused Adamson's 2000 death, according to the Daily Mail. In 2021, Kieran spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the family's heartbreak over the death of Dakota, whose nickname was Cody. "That's the worst thing that's ever happened, and there's no sugarcoating that one," Kieran said. "... I think everyone was just torn up inside."
While Cody chose not to go into acting, most of Macaulay's siblings did. In a 2019 interview with journalist Peter Travers, Kieran said the siblings began acting "around the same time." Shane was in one 1989 episode of the series "Great Performances," and Christian appeared in the 1994 movie "My Summer Story." Quinn took on parts in two of Macaulay's films, "Home Alone" and "The Good Son," and voiced a character in the animated show "Wish Kid." Additionally, Rory acted in popular projects, like "Signs" and "Scream 4." Kieran has likewise made a name for himself, with his latest role being Roman Roy on "Succession." Recently, Kieran has shown an interest in working alongside his family members.
Kieran Culkin 'would love' to act with his siblings in Succession
Kieran Culkin is ready for an on-screen sibling reunion. In the past, Kieran has acted with Macaulay, as Kieran played a cousin, Fuller, in both "Home Alone" and "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York." In 2021, Kieran told Entertainment Tonight he "would love" to have a sibling guest star on his hit HBO show, "Succession." "Yeah, I would be game for that. That would be cool," Kieran said. "Why wouldn't I be game? That sounds like fun."
When he chatted on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" in 2019, Kieran noted that he and another sibling, Rory, are the two Culkins who perform most often nowadays. "Now it's pretty much just me and Rory," Kieran said. He added, "Mac does some stuff sometimes too." Macaulay's most recent part was Downtown Pat, a character he voiced for the 2022 animated rom-com "Entergalactic." In March 2023, Kieran told Access Hollywood that he and Macaulay haven't met each other's second-born children yet, as the brothers reside on separate coasts and are tied up with work obligations. "As busy as I am, there's just no getting on a plane and going, and same with them," Kieran said.
