The Family Chantel: What We Know About Pedro Jimeno's Parents
To say TLC's "The Family Chantel" showcases some major tensions between Pedro Jimeno, Chantel Everett, and Jimeno's family would be an understatement. However, with Pedro and Chantel divorcing in Season 4, we can't help but wonder, what more do we know about the Jimeno family?
First thing's first: the divorce. After several unbelievable ups and downs over the past few years, Pedro and Chantel have finally gone their separate ways. According to Us Weekly, the first step was a separation in April 2022, followed by a divorce filing in May and a mutual restraining order. Given the tumultuous nature of their relationship, we're not entirely surprised that things ended the way they did. After all, it wouldn't be the first time they looked to authorities for assistance in their family drama. Fans will undoubtedly remember that while on a trip to the Dominican Republic, Pedro's sister, Nicole Jimeno, was escorted out of a restaurant, with the police being called after a particularly heated moment. Their mother, Lidia Jimeno, was also involved in the spectacle, threatening to throw water on Chantel's sister, Winter Everett, after she believed Winter had motioned to do the same.
One thing's for sure, "The Family Chantel" put some dicey family dynamics on full display. Our question remains, though. What more do we know about Lidia and Pedro's unnamed (and never featured) father?
Lydia Jimeno is getting her own show
Lidia Jimeno might not have been a fan of her former daughter-in-law and her family, but it's pretty clear that when it comes to reality TV, Lidia is on board. Case in point: She's signed on to join another.
In a TLC press release, the network revealed that Lidia would be back on screens for Season 3 of "90 Day Fiancé: Love in Paradise" in April 2023. According to the network, she's set to invite a love interest — known only as Scott — to the Dominican Republic. It would mark their first IRL meeting. No word on whether Pedro and Nicole Jimeno will make an appearance, but if the matriarch's history on "90 Day Fiancé" and "The Family Chantel" is anything to go by, then the drama seems inevitable.
As for Lidia's previous romances, it isn't entirely clear if she's moved on with anybody new since splitting from Pedro and Nicole's father. Granted, in one episode of "The Family Chantel," Pedro's half-siblings revealed that the matriarch had written her ex-lover a letter, something Lidia denied outright, claiming she was well over that particular relationship. "When you are done with a relationship, I'm the kind of person that will not chase after you," she said. In fairness, we'd venture to say that walking away was a pretty good call.
Pedro Jimeno doesn't have a relationship with his father
Pedro Jimeno's father remains something of a mystery. One thing we do know, however, is that he doesn't have a relationship with either of the kids he shares with Lidia Jimeno. Oh — and he was married to someone else when both were conceived.
Pedro has made no secret of his disdain for his dad in the past. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly of Nicole Jimeno's relationship with Alejandro Padron — later revealed to be a married man — Pedro spoke about how it took him back to the trauma Lidia experienced in her relationship with his father. "She knows what our mother went through ... He secretly had another family," he recounted. That's not all he's had to say, though. In a 2019 episode of "The Family Chantel," he shared that if he had grown up with a dad, he believed he would have pursued his dreams. Though he loved baseball as a kid, his single mom couldn't take him to every practice, which hurt his progress. Ultimately, his dream ended there. It's not all that surprising, then, that speaking to Us Weekly, Pedro used his absent father as the reason to hold off on having kids until he was ready. "I want to be the best father in the world," he mused.
Here's hoping that whenever Pedro does settle down a second time, he makes good on that.
