Elon Musk Reportedly Dating Grimes Following Amber Heard Split

Elon Musk has apparently moved on since his breakup from actress Amber Heard.

On Monday, May 7, 2018, the Tesla co-founder walked the red carpet at the 2018 Met Gala with Canadian musician Grimes (real name Claire Boucher). As noted by E! News, Musk and Grimes' appearance at the event marked their red carpet debut as a couple, though the pair have yet to officially confirm their rumored romance with a statement.

Prior to Musk and Grimes' Met Gala red carpet appearance, Page Six had reported that the two were quietly dating. A source told the celebrity news site that Musk met Grimes when he went to tweet a joke about Roko's Basilisk, a thought experiment regarding the complications of artificial intelligence ... but discovered that Grimes had already done so. Seriously.

Musk then contacted Grimes and the two apparently bonded.

Musk and Grimes' reported relationship comes just months after it was thought that he and Heard, who also attended the 2018 Met Gala, had gotten back together following their August 2017 breakup. According to Us Weekly, Musk and Heard later called it quits yet again in February 2018.

As Nicki Swift previously reported, Musk and Heard had initially split, in part, because of the long-distance nature of their romance and their busy work schedules.

Musk later commented on their breakup, stating, "I was really in love, and it hurt bad," noting that Heard may have wanted to part ways more than he did. Regarding the future of his love life, he said, "I'm looking for a long-term relationship. I'm not looking for a one-night stand. I'm looking for a serious companion or soulmate, that kind of thing," adding, "If I'm not in love, if I'm not with a long-term companion, I cannot be happy."
