What Jennifer Ashton's Husband Really Does For A Living

"Good Morning America" fans everywhere were pleasantly surprised when they learned that their favorite chief medical correspondent was engaged to be married! 

"I said YES! to Tom Werner" Ashton penned in a revelatory Instagram post on January 3, 2022, along with a photo of the loved-up couple. And after that, the couple was on the fast track to the altar. Fast forward to November 5 and the couple said their vows to one another in front of 200 of their nearest and dearest (including the likes of George Stephanopoulos and Corey Gamble) during a traditional Jewish ceremony at the Harmonie Club. But, that's not all. Afterward, the happy couple and their guests danced the night away at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Fancy! "I'm so happy because I never thought I'd find love like this," Ashton later gushed to People. "But when you're older, it doesn't take long to recognize when you've found your soul mate," she declared. Mazel Tov!

But aside from being the soul mate and newly minted husband of a "GMA" star, what exactly does Werner do for a living?

There's no business like show business!

As it turns out, just like Dr. Jennifer Ashton, her hubby, Tom Werner, also has roots in television! It's reported that the successful billionaire (yes, that's "billionaire" with a "B") carved out a lucrative career for himself working as a television executive on many hit shows, including "That '70s Show," "3rd Rock From The Sun," "Roseanne," and "The Cosby Show." Not too shabby, eh? 

Still, Ashton wasn't exactly impressed by her future hubby's résumé when they first met, namely because she didn't actually know who he was. "I think I was one of the only people working in television who didn't know who he was," Ashton confessed to People. "I didn't watch his shows and I wasn't a baseball or soccer fan. But after our first date, we got serious pretty quickly." But, wait — what do baseball and soccer have to do with anything? Funny you should ask...

Aside from being a big wig in the entertainment industry, Dr. Jennifer Ashton's husband, Tom Werner, also co-owns the Boston Red Sox, the Liverpool Football Club, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. "At one point I had the top three shows on television, and millions of people were watching my shows every week. But there was nothing in my life that is comparable to the experience of when the Red Sox won the World Series in 2004," the famous TV exec turned sports owner once gushed about how his love of the game eclipsed his love of television. 

And now it appears Werner's made a fan out of his new wife and adult step-children, as well! "No hardware for the Reds today but still plenty to remember with this Champions League final. Liverpool had some great chances but the RMA goalkeeper was truly the Man of the Match. Merci Paris; a bientot," Ashton penned in a bittersweet Instagram post about the team's loss to Real Madrid on May 28, 2022, along with a photo of herself and her children enjoying the game. Don't worry, Werner! It's obvious you're still a winner in your wife's eyes!
