The (Probably False) Feud Rumors About Jennifer Aniston And Reese Witherspoon
Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon have known each other for years. "We met on the set of Friends; I played her sister," Witherspoon told Natalie Portman in a 2019 Harper's Bazaar piece. Witherspoon instantly admired the "Friends" star. She added, "She was so sweet to me. I was really nervous, and she was like, 'Oh, my gosh — don't worry about it!' I marveled at her ability to perform in front of a live audience like that with no nerves. They would change all the lines and she was just so effortlessly affable, bubbly, and sunny. We've been friends ever since."
The iconic duo garnered more attention when they signed on to co-star in the AppleTV+ series, "The Morning Show," which offers an unfiltered look at the behind-the-scenes dynamics at a morning talk show. Aniston and Witherspoon play co-anchors Alex Levy and Bradley Jackson, respectively, and are prone to having more than a few tiffs on-screen. However, their reunion prompted some buzz that they were also quarreling off-screen, too. So, are the rumors regarding Aniston and Witherspoon's reported feud true?
Reese Witherspoon subtly squashed the rumors
Amid the release of "The Morning Show" Season 2, rumors circulated that Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston were feuding, as detailed by OK! Magazine. In the course of filming, an insider revealed that "there was some friction" between the castmates and "some eyerolling and whispering going on." The source told Star, "They used to hang out when the cameras weren't rolling, but not now." The source added, "They're both very old-school Hollywood in the way they approach their lives, both professionally and personally, so neither of them would admit any tension, and they're good at making nice on set and off." However, a rep for Aniston shut down rumors about any on-set drama.
In addition, other details about Aniston and Witherspoon's dynamic points to the contrary. In the midst of this speculation, Aniston took to Instagram to share a series of photos of her dog. According to The News International, Witherspoon commented, "Sweet doggie cuddles." With just three words, Witherspoon appeared to put these feud rumors to rest. And, on February 11, Witherspoon took to Instagram to wish Aniston a happy birthday. Alongside a carousel of adorable photos, Witherspoon wrote, "What a gift to get to work with my big sis everyday on @themorningshow. You always give the best advice and endless LOVE and support." It doesn't exactly sound like the two are on bad terms.
Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon are the best of friends
While Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon get into plenty of arguments on "The Morning Show," their relationship doesn't seem to be contentious off-screen. Aniston was complimentary of Witherspoon, saying, "It's always fun to fight with Reese because she's such a sweet burst of sunshine that she's not someone you wanna go scream your head off to. And I usually always end up bursting into laughter at some point. It's just too hard to be that mad with each other. But we do it." Kimmel replied, "I guess that's acting, huh?"
