Is Shania Twain's Ex-Husband Mutt Lange Still With Marie-Anne Thiebaud?
There's no shortage of topics Shania Twain can write about in her songs. The country singer has dealt with her fair share of experiencing both love and heartbreak. It goes back to the "You're Still The One" singer's relationship with Robert "Mutt" Lange.
Twain and Lange's relationship started professionally as he helped her produce some of her biggest hits. But, if you spend a lot of time with someone, it's understandable if you start to develop feelings for the other person, and that's what happened with Twain and Lange. In December 1993, just six months after their first meeting, the couple exchanged vows and officially became husband and wife.
The couple seemed like the ultimate power couple, able to crank out hit songs together and have an amazing marriage. Twain had even shared with Interview magazine why their collaborations were just as good as their marriage. She said, "He comes from the rock world, so he's got so much spunk to his music. But obviously, we have a much closer relationship than your average co-writers." Being married to your producer may make it easier to create songs whenever and wherever, and it worked for the couple. Beyond their joint professional ventures, the duo seemed to be madly in love with one another. Twain and Lange even welcomed a child together, Eja, in 2001. Although it seemed the pair had it all, it quickly turned upside down when a certain cheating scandal surrounded Lange.
Mutt Lange accused of cheating on Shania Twain
Shania Twain had to come face to face with the ultimate betrayal in her marriage. In 2008, rumors swirled that Mutt Lange had been cheating on the country singer with her assistant, Marie-Ann Thiébaud. It's one thing for someone to cheat on their partner, it's another to cheat on them with someone they considered a close friend. Of course, this affair was alleged, as both Marie-Ann and Lange denied anything romantic happened during their marriages. However, Marie-Ann's husband at the time, Frédéric Thiébaud, has a different as to how things unfolded.
Frédéric shared in an interview that he had discovered his wife was cheating on him with Lange in a "concrete way." The businessman reportedly confronted the two about the affair and told them to tell the "You're Still The One" singer. When they didn't, Frédéric took things into his own hands and shared the jaw-dropping news with Twain. Whether the affair ended up being true or not, it took a toll on Twain and Lange's marriage as they decided to separate that same year.
Despite their constant denial about the affair, fans were even more convinced the affair took place because Lange and Marie-Ann decided to pursue a relationship following the separation from their respective spouses. Fans wondered if this newfound relationship was just a fling or something more serious. So, are Lange and Marie-Ann still together?
Mutt Lange and Marie-Ann are reportedly still together
Shania Twain and Mutt Lange's relationship messily ended as they moved on from one another. When the couple announced their separation in 2008, Lange began seeing Marie-Ann Thiébaud, who was at the center of the cheating allegations. Even though the couple faced a lot of backlash, it seems to have only made them stronger. According to The Cut, Marie-Ann and Lange are believed to still be with each other. Since 2008, the couple has lived a private life, probably due to all the drama that surrounded them, but there's been no reports of them separating.
Twain also began a new relationship. Ironically, the country singer ended up exploring a relationship with Frédéric Thiébaud. Twain detailed that through the alleged affair between their spouses she and Frédéric became "good friends." The two went through a devastating experience together, and for Twain, it was nice to have someone to lean on. The two eventually ended up tying the knot in 2011 and have continued to have a loving relationship ever since.
The four individuals can't seem to escape one another. Though Twain is married to Marie-Ann's ex-husband and vice versa, that doesn't mean the two women get along. In 2015, Twain shared her thoughts on Marie Ann — "I don't see her, ever. I don't invite that trigger into my life. ... She's not my future — she's my past."
