Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos Address 'Bizarre' Shaming Of Bikini Pic
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are still confused over the controversy.
During their joint appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, the married pair addressed the criticism they received after posting a pic of Ripa wearing a bikini on the beach a month earlier.
"You posted the hottest picture of Kelly in her bikini and all of these trolls came out, and you swatted them down," Cohen told Consuelos. "I loved it!" The Riverdale star replied, "It was bizarre. It's like, what else are you supposed to wear at the beach?"
Ripa agreed, adding, "I don't know what I'm supposed to wear to the beach. I mean, I don't really know. I wasn't in synagogue. I was at the beach. I mean, if you come up with an option, let me know."
As Nicki Swift previously reported, Consuelos, 47, took to Instagram in late March to share said photo of Ripa, 47, wearing a bikini as she stood in the ocean. He wrote in the caption, "Sultry Sundays with the sexy one are my fave." However, it wasn't long until internet trolls began to leave negative comments about the Live with Kelly and Ryan co-host's exposed body.
Consuelos later slammed the haters with a lengthy response in the comments section. "I wanted to take a couple days to weigh in. Probably should've earlier arguably. But I wanted to be above it. Well, now I'm not," the actor wrote, before defending his wife of 22 years. "I posted this pic of the women I most admire as a playful tribute to my wife who I'm proud of in endless ways. She works extremely hard in her professional life and her commitment to exercise, healthy diet is admirable and the benefits show."
He continued, "Yes she's wearing a bikini at age 47 and will no doubt wear one for many years to come. If that offends you in some way, if it triggers you, or some other psychosis you're suffering from, I suggest you get over it and get used to it. To all the males that had something negative to say... I suggest you bring it up with me if I'm ever lucky enough to run into you. I'm going to get back to my vacation now. Thanks for allowing me to express myself."
As Consuelos concluded his post, he sweetly wrote, "I love you @kellyripa ... keep killing it."
