Details About Sam Claflin's Six-Year Marriage To Ex-Wife Laura Haddock

In August 2019, Sam Claflin and his wife Laura Haddock announced they were separating after six years of marriage. The pair, who married in July 2013 and share two kids, released a joint statement saying the decision was made mutually and amicably. "We will move forward with nothing but love, friendship and a deep respect for one another, whilst we continue to raise our family together," they said (via People). "We won't be commenting on this further. Thank you in advance for your support and respecting our privacy at this time."

Indeed, the two have managed to stay good friends as they continue to co-parent son Pip and daughter Margot while moving on with their post-marriage lives. In honor of Mother's Day in 2021, Claflin took to Instagram to pay tribute to his ex-wife, sharing a rare photo of Haddock together with their young children. "And a Happy Mummy's Day to the Mother of my two radicals. They're so lucky to have you," he captioned the photo (via Hello! Magazine). He also described Haddock as a "Friend. Teacher. Warrior. Superhero. Inspiration." He added, "We got this @laurajhaddock."

Now, we're taking a look back at Sam Claflin's six-year marriage to his ex-wife Laura Haddock.

Sam Claflin and Laura Haddock met at an audition

It was pretty much love at first sight for Sam Claflin and Laura Haddock. The two actors met in 2011 at an audition for the biopic "My Week With Marilyn," where they bonded after realizing they had the same agent. Claflin said he felt an immediate spark. After bumping into each other at the train station the following morning, he knew then that his future wife was the one. He said, according to Metro, "I didn't know anything about her other than that her name was Laura, she was very attractive and she seemed lovely. But I went home, woke my friend up at 7am and said, 'I just met the girl I want to marry. I love this girl, like, I love her. She's perfect.'"

According to the outlet, it was only after Haddock added him on Facebook that the pair started officially dating a few months later. They soon got engaged, and in July 2013 tied the knot in a private ceremony, according to E! News. The "Hunger Games" star opened up to Glamour about their hush-hush wedding, saying getting married was "easily one of [his] greatest achievements" in life. "To have a wife with such wondrous, creative imagination, who planned every inch of it, made the day all the more special," he said (via AZ Central). Claflin added, "Every five seconds I find myself falling harder and deeper in love with her.”

They wanted a bigger family

Several months after their low-key pregnancy announcement during "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" premiere, Sam Claflin and Laura Haddock welcomed their first baby together, Pip, in December 2015. Claflin gushed to People (via Pop Sugar) about being a first-time father and how it changed his life completely, saying, "I always thought, naively, that I knew what it would be like. I always thought that I'd understand. [But when he was] born, it's like another level of love." While parenting can be hard, Claflin considers having their son the "best thing that's ever happened" to him. "It's all worth it," he added. "The rewards are just endless."

It took two years before he and Haddock expanded their family to include their second child Margot, who was born in January 2018. Despite having two young children, the "Me Before You" actor told People that he was open to adding more members to their growing brood, stressing that both he and his wife grew up in large families. He also said that it had always been his dream to become a father. While he and Haddock ended up parting ways, it's clear that there's no love lost between the couple, and both have since moved on with other partners. Currently, Claflin is said to be in a romantic relationship with American model (and Leonardo DiCaprio's ex) Cassie Amato, while Haddock is believed to be dating her "White Lines" co-star Tom Rhys Harries, per Yahoo!
