What We Know About Patrick And Brittany Mahomes' Kids

The love story between NFL star Patrick Mahomes II and his wife Brittany Matthews is the stuff of fairy tales. The pair met as teenagers while attending the same high school in Texas and stated dating in 2009, when Mahomes was just in 10th grade and Matthews in 11th (They were even each other's prom date!). Despite going to separate colleges to pursue their own paths, the two managed to make their relationship work and in September 2020, announced they were engaged. They later started their own family and tied the knot in a dream Hawaii ceremony in March 2022, after 10 years together. Their first child, Sterling Skye, was born earlier in February 2021, while their youngest, Patrick "Bronze," was born in November 2022. 

A quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, Mahomes has opened up about being a first-time dad to Sterling in a 2021 interview with Today. He said, "It's been amazing. Brittany's been a champ, she's been the best mom ever." Both Mahomes and Matthews are known to be incredibly protective of their two children, but have slowly become more open about their family life throughout the years. The proud father once gushed to People, "To have her and Brittany and my family, I mean, it truly is an amazing feeling." Here's what we know about Mahomes and Matthews' kids, Sterling and Bronze.

Both Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany didn't have a hard time adjusting to their roles as first-time parents when their daughter Sterling Skye was born on February 20, 2021. Speaking with People about his experience being a father, the NFL star said he was blessed to have "a really, really good first baby in Sterling." After months of keeping her away from the public eye, Mahomes and Matthews proudly introduced their daughter to the world in June 2021. "Obviously at first we wanted to keep stuff private and not have her out there," Mahomes said. "As we started doing different things and she started getting a little bit older, being out and about ... we figured it was about time."

During the couple's wedding in Hawaii, Sterling — then about a year old — became the center of attention while serving as one of the flower girls for her parents. Donning a white dress with an oversized bow detail in the back, she made her way down the aisle in a blue Bentley convertible toy car. "Having your daughter apart of your wedding, just hits different," Matthews wrote on Instagram. Much like her dad, it seems Sterling Skye is also destined for the spotlight — in 2022, she appeared in her first TV commercial for Oakley alongside her father. The Kansas quarterback couldn't help but beam with pride and gushed of his daughter, "She's going to be the real star of the family."

On November 28, 2022, Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Matthews became a family of four when they welcomed their son Patrick — otherwise known as Bronze. The pair announced his birth with a photo of Bronze on Instagram, showing only his feet while he lays on a blanket that reads "Mahomes." (A custom diamond chain is also seen below him.) Speaking with the press about their new bundle of joy, Mahomes credited his wife for handling her pregnancy and childbirth like a champ. "It's awesome to bring in a son to add to my family and everything went great and everything went smooth," he said.

According to Mahomes, it was his younger brother Jackson who came up with the idea of calling their son Bronze. "He said, 'What about Bronze?' It fits perfectly with Sterling.' So we went with that," said the football star. "I think it works out well, and he can have his own thing now where he is not Patrick, he's Bronze ... And then Sterling and Bronze can have that connection moving forward." While they have yet to publicly introduce their son, Mahomes and his wife seem to be adjusting well to their new roles as parents of two — and that's thanks in no small part to their daughter, Sterling Skye, who's been a great big sister and a huge help to them both, according to Matthews. "She is obsessed & loving her new role," Matthews has said of Sterling (via People). Too cute!
