Inside Harry Styles And Louis Tomlinson's Relationship

Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson have a lot of "History" together. The two were part of, undoubtedly, one of the biggest boy bands, One Direction. The group consisted of Styles, Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Liam Payne, and they amounted to tons of success.

One Direction formed on the U.K. version of "X-Factor" in 2010, and although they didn't win that season, they won in the long run, per Heart. The band became heartthrobs for teenagers everywhere, and their catchy tunes were heard all over the radio. Despite not knowing one another before "X-Factor" the band seemed to get along like brothers. In 2015, that image of a band that got along so well came crashing down when Malik revealed he would be leaving One Direction. One Direction released an official statement announcing Malik's departure, per Capital FM. They wrote, "After five incredible years Zayn Malik has decided to leave One Direction ... My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band."

Later that same year, One Direction announced they would be going on an indefinite hiatus. Fans were devastated and wondered if the band would remain friends going forward. Each member has taken their career into their own hands since, but fans still wonder if they ever talk to one another, especially Styles and Tomlinson.

After One Direction was formed in 2010, the boys bonded over the journey they were embarking on. All of them had each other to lean on, but it was evident some were closer than others. For fans, they noticed how well Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson got along.

Both men had a similar sense of humor and seemed to understand one another, thus began the bromance, "Larry Stylinson." In the beginning, the bandmates didn't seem to mind fans joking about their friendship. Styles even played into their brotherly connection with a tweet back in 2010. The singer wrote, "Have a Good New Years Everyone!! And for 2011... #BackTheBromance :) @Louis_Tomlinson ....You Stud." However, as time went on, fans created conspiracy theories that claimed the two were something more, per J-14. Styles and Tomlinson's friendship quickly became the center of attention as fans watched their every move. It became so intense, it started to affect the bond between the two.

In the following years, Styles and Tomlinson grew apart. The bandmates rarely hung out outside of One Direction events. In 2017, Tomlinson spoke about how the conspiracy theories affected his friendship with Styles, per The Sun. Tomlinson said, "It kind of happened naturally for me and Harry because a certain amount of the fans drew up this conspiracy ... It made everything, I think on both fences, a little bit more unapproachable. I think it shows that it was never anything real, if I can use that word."

After One Direction took a hiatus in 2015, each member pursued different ventures. The bandmates catch up now and then, but never all together, per J-14. Harry Styles seems to be the one member to hang out the least with his bandmates. However, that hasn't stopped Louis Tomlinson from supporting him.

It's undeniable Styles has had an incredibly successful career since he departed from One Direction. The "Adore You" singer has won a Grammy, headlined Coachella, and starred in blockbuster films. Coming from a band, many compare his success to his fellow bandmates, and for a while, Tomlinson was irked by Styles' success, per People. Tomlinson shared, "I'd be lying if I said it didn't bother me at first ... Only 'cause I didn't know where to place myself, and really my only point of reference was other members of the band." However, Tomlinson isn't shocked by Styles' achievements.

Although it took time to find his footing after One Direction, Tomlinson reassured he holds no hard feelings toward the "As It Was" singer. He said, "I look on Harry like a brother, man. I have a lot of pride for what he's doing." Despite being private about his time in One Direction, Styles has reciprocated his appreciation for Tomlinson and fellow members, per Instagram. On One Direction's 10th anniversary, Styles wrote, "And finally.. to the boys, I love you so much, and I couldn't be prouder of everything we achieved together. Here's to ten."
