Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber Reportedly Don't Want A Serious Relationship Right Now
Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber are cooling off on their relationship.
According to an Entertainment Tonight exclusive, published on Thursday, April 12, 2018, the pop stars remain on good terms amid recent reports that they're on a break.
"They were at church last night [in Los Angeles], they didn't arrive or leave together, but they were very friendly and civil," a source told the website, noting that the timing of their rekindled romance simply isn't right as Gomez focuses on her health. "They're still very close. It's not awkward between them at all."
The insider added, "[Justin] loves her so much, but they both know a serious relationship right now is just too much to take on. It's been a weird few weeks for Selena. She's tired of taking on other people's dramas and just wants to continue focusing on herself and going to church is a big part of that. She knows the paps will be there and make a whole thing of her and Justin having a 'run-in,' but it's not like that, they're fine."
But that doesn't mean everyone's entirely comfortable with the situation. "Honestly, it's their friends who don't really know how to handle the whole situation," the source said. "Everyone's always guessing, 'Are they or aren't they [together]?' They've had a very volatile relationship in the past, so everyone is bracing themselves for it to turn south again, but so far it's been fine."
As Nicki Swift previously reported, Gomez, 25, and Bieber, 24, reportedly got back together in October 2017 after Gomez underwent a kidney transplant, which she needed as a result of her lupus. The pair, who have since remained notably private about the status of their relationship, had previously dated on and off between 2011 and 2015.
However, last month the two reportedly decided to take some time apart as they worked through some "issues." Regarding the "Bad Liar" singer, an Entertainment Tonight source alleged, "She's still working hard, looking after her health, and doing what's good for her. Justin isn't walking all over her."
