Beyonce And Jay-Z's Kids Live Lavish Lives
In America, we may have fought a revolution to reject actual royalty, but nowadays our pop stars and movie stars are easily the equivalent. Nepo babies aside, many celebrities weren't necessarily born into wealth and have often worked hard to achieve their "royal" status. Meanwhile, others find themselves becoming heirs to a pop cultural crown — as well as a lavish lifestyle. At the top tier of such celebrities are undoubtedly Beyoncé Knowles and Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter. The couple certainly lives like a King and Queen and their three children accordingly get treated like a prince and princesses, too. Blue Ivy Carter was born in 2012. She then became an older sibling to a brother and a sister in 2017 when Beyoncé delivered twins.
Having children has had a profound effect on the superstar. In a 2020 interview with British Vogue, she explained, "Motherhood has been my biggest inspiration. It became my mission to make sure [Blue Ivy] lived in a world where she feels truly seen and valued." Clearly, the parents shower their children with love and support but they have also hinted at potentially spoiling them. On "Oprah's Master Class" (via Daily Mail), Jay-Z explained about the recently born Blue Ivy, "At the end of the day, I just know I'll probably have the worst, spoiled little kid ever." The rumored lavish lifestyles of Beyoncé and Jay-Z's children certainly suggest as much.
Blue Ivy has been showered in diamonds and gold
Beyoncé and Jay-Z's first child, Blue Ivy Carter, was born into the lap of luxury. As a baby, she was reportedly being pushed around in a $50,000 stroller decked out with diamonds, per Hello! Magazine. According to Insider, shortly after being born, the couple's firstborn already had $1.5 million worth of possessions. One of those possessions was a $600,000 gold rocking horse by Japanese jeweler, Ginza Tanaka.
Blue Ivy also apparently enjoyed her meals of baby food in a Swarovski crystal high chair worth over $10,000. An insider told the Evening Standard that Beyoncé and Jay-Z had also sent one to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West when the "Renaissance" hitmaker couldn't attend the reality star's baby shower. Blue Ivy undoubtedly received a host of gifts from the rich and famous for her first birthday but none was more extravagant than the gift from her parents — an $80,000 diamond-encrusted Barbie doll, according to HuffPost.
As she's gotten older, her inclination for expensive possessions has only grown stronger. In 2022, at the age of 10, Blue Ivy bid over $80,0000 on a pair of Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings at an art auction, per Page Six. According to the outlet, her grandmother, Tina Knowles, was modeling the earrings on stage for the auction, and her granddaughter was encouraged to make a bid by her parents. Sadly, she didn't ultimately win the earrings — the final bid was $105,000. However, the incident proves the tot has developed expensive tastes.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z's twins used bejeweled pacifiers
Beyoncé gave birth to twins Rumi and Sir in June 2017. Not to be outdone by their older sister, these babies were pampered and showered with expensive gifts immediately upon making their appearance on Earth. Naturally, a common plastic pacifier wasn't going to make the cut. Instead, Beyoncé and Jay-Z purportedly splurged on some that would fit their lifestyle. "Jay fell in love with $2.5 million bejeweled pacifiers by Suommo and a 3-carat diamond pacifier set in 18K white gold for $17,000," an alleged insider told Life & Style. The parents also reportedly purchased a pair of $3,600 Versace strollers and $1,200 Burberry diaper bags in preparation for the birth of the twins. According to the insider, Rumi and Sir were living the most lavish lives possible as babies, with a nursery set-up alleged to be worth around $10 million.
Still, as any new parent will likely agree, it can be hard to hold back on cute goodies when you're blissed out on the joy of a newborn. Sure, most parents don't drop a few million in doing so, but still, the couple seemed eager to enjoy the formative years of their twins. During a 2018 appearance on "The Van Jones Show" (via Essence), Jay-Z sounded like the happiest man in the world as he joked, "We are in a beautiful time now because they are seven months and they can't move ... We are going to enjoy these couple of months until they start running, and then it's over."
The famous parents went all out for the twins' nursery
For Beyoncé and Jay-Z, expecting twins meant doubling the size (and price) of all expecting parent expenses. They created the newborns' new room by tearing down a wall in their home and making two rooms into one large out-of-this-world nursery, according to Life & Style magazine. The nursery reportedly included a $50,000 sound system, walk-in closets, a fireplace, and a movie theater. Not to mention some very impressive decorations. "[Beyoncé] commissioned a $20,000 mural on the ceiling, complete with glowing stars ... It's incredible. It's the entire galaxy above the nursery," a source claimed to the outlet.
It was also rumored that the couple spent a whopping $50,000 on a pair of 18-karat gold cribs, made by Suommo – a Spanish design brand that specializes in luxury baby products. Each crib comes equipped with an eco-friendly mattress and champagne silk bedding.
Of course, given that Beyoncé and Jay-Z are reportedly hands-on parents and spend as much time with the children as possible, it makes sense that the parents likely enjoyed the space just as much as their children did, too. During a 2013 appearance on "Anderson Cooper 360," Beyoncé told the host that she and Jay-Z adored being parents and shared diaper duties. "I love changing diapers," she gushed. "... I love every moment of it. It's so beautiful." The singer also revealed that she loves singing nursery rhymes to her children, stating, "I make up a lot of crazy, corny ... songs."
Blue Ivy wears designer looks to Hollywood events
With fashion icon, Beyoncé Knowles for a mom is it any surprise that Blue Ivy Carter is always dressed to the nines in designer suits and couture gowns? Of course, her stylist, Manuel Mendez, who has been helping her pick out her looks since she was born, has a lot to do with that. He was already working for Beyoncé as a wardrobe assistant when he landed the job. "Blue's mom liked my style of work and organically I became her stylist," he explained to BeLatina.
With the help of Mendez, the eldest Carter child seems to have taken a particular fancy to the luxury Italian fashion house, Gucci. She once wore a $1790 Gucci kids' dress to a basketball game, pairing it with a denim jacket and Converse, per Teen Vogue. At five years old, she wore an impeccably tailored pink Gucci suit to the 2017 Grammys (above) and carried a $2,000 clutch from the brand as an accessory, according to Allure. In 2017, she also wore a tiny version of a $26,000 dress from the fashion house's 2016 autumn collection to the premiere of "Beauty and the Beast," per The Cut.
In 2016, when the budding fashionista attended the VMAs with her mom, she went full princess mode and wore an $11,000 Mischka Aoki tulle dress with $565 sneakers, per People. But that price tag was a pittance compared to the $20 million worth of Lorraine Schwartz jewelry that her mom was rocking that night.
Their birthday parties are extravagant affairs
You may remember the previously mentioned $80,000 Barbie doll that Blue Ivy Carter received for her first birthday, but we haven't delved into the extravagance of the party itself. Her first birthday party was an event to be remembered despite the fact she wouldn't actually remember it, reportedly costing $200,000. While $30,000 was apparently spent on dress-up items and toys for Blue Ivy's party guests, $95,000 was apparently splashed out on an arrangement of pink and white roses. The cake alone was said to have been worth $2,400. "They wanted her first birthday to set the tone for the rest of her life," an Insider told The Sun (via HuffPost). Apparently, that tone is sheer opulence.
The parties didn't seem to get simpler, either. For her second birthday, TMZ reported that Beyoncé and Jay-Z rented out an entire Miami zoo for the event. Meanwhile, her 2016 fairy party was even more luxurious. With hired princesses, fairy wings for all attendees, tents, and an archery station, we're guessing this was also an expensive occasion. While the couple has seemingly been more private regarding celebrations for twins Rumi and Sir, Beyoncé did share photos from their second birthday in a video recap of 2019 on Instagram. The party looked to be "Baby Shark" themed and appeared to take place at an outdoor venue complete with large cardboard cut-outs and loads of balloons and cake. Thus, there's no doubt the twins get the same royal birthday treatment as their sister has in the past.
They've traveled the world before the age of ten
With jet-setting famous parents like Beyoncé and Jay-Z, it isn't surprising that the Carter children have already traveled all over the world. Not only do the kids occasionally travel with their parents for their work obligations, but they also go on luxurious family vacations to locations most kids don't even know exist. In 2015, for instance, Blue Ivy Carter got to explore Italy as a child, riding carousels in Florence, roaming the countryside, and eating authentic Neapolitan pizza and Italian gelato. According to the Daily Mail, the family rented a luxury yacht to sail around the Mediterranean Sea, stopping in Naples, Capri, and Sardinia along the way. The massive boat reportedly cost $900,000 a week.
On Instagram a year later, Beyoncé shared a photo montage of herself and Blue Ivy dancing together in Paris to Young Thug's "Best Friend," as well as holiday snaps from a family vacation to Hawaii. Then, for Beyoncé's visual album, "The Lion King: The Gift," the whole family, including the twins, traveled throughout Africa. The pop superstar explained the significance of the family sojourn during the ABC documentary "Making the Gift" (via E! News). "Visiting countries in Africa, it's always an emotional experience for me. It feels like I'm making peace with a part of me that's yearning for my ancestral connection," she said. "I was blessed to be able to relive some of the experiences that I've been very fortunate to have over the years with my entire family."
The Carter kids are growing up in some huge homes
It's safe to say that the Carter children are growing up in some of the most luxurious spaces imaginable. Unsurprisingly, since Beyoncé and Jay-Z have been married, they have owned numerous properties from Manhattan to New Orleans. But in recent years, the predominant home that Blue Ivy, Sir, and Rumi are growing up in is located in Bel Air in Los Angeles, California. A full-blown mansion, the house is thought to be worth $88 million, per Hello! The Carters moved into the property in 2017, and it reportedly includes six buildings, eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, four swimming pools, a spa, a 15-car garage, staff quarters, a movie theater, and a basketball court on 1.88 acres of land.
Though all of that sounds like you would never have to leave the property or have any need for another home, they actually do have another property in New York located in The Hamptons, according to Architectural Digest. Compared to the Bel Air mansion, the $26 million space is a tad smaller — though still likely far bigger than the average abode. This seeming summer getaway house is on a pond and features seven bedrooms with seven and a half baths, as well as lavish details like Italian marble and hand-milled woodwork throughout the property. For anyone fantasizing about scoring an invite anytime soon, the Hamptons retreat also boasts a 1,800-square-foot guest house. Well, you can dream, right?
The children have no shortage of staff at their disposal
For Beyoncé and Jay-Z, being two of the biggest performers in the world and making millions doesn't leave too much free time. Of course, the couple has a ton of staff to help with the upkeep of the mansions and raising the children. According to ET, an inside source explained, "Blue Ivy and the twins have a team of nannies working for them ...They have people around the clock." Rumor has it that the couple hired a total of six staffers to help take care of the twins, per OK! magazine. Each one is reportedly paid a $100,000 salary. A source told the outlet, "The twins don't sleep at the same time, so she decided she needs three per child, working in eight-hour shifts."
Not only do they have nannies, but as previously mentioned, Blue Ivy also has her own personal stylist to help her with her fashion choices. But that's not all. She and her siblings, Rumi and Sir, are also rumored to have their own chef who makes them specially prepared foods like ballerina-shaped pasta and pureed asparagus — tailored for Blue Ivy's finicky tastes, according to the Daily Mail. The outlet also claimed that the Carters employ full-time security for their children. Being in the spotlight as much as they are, who could blame them? In short, the kids pretty much seem to have everything they could possibly ever need on hand at all times.
