Why Adam Weir Really Disappeared From Renovation Island
By now, it's common knowledge that HGTV's "Renovation Island" OG, Adam Weir has left the building (or, ahem, the building project filmed in the show). We can't help but wonder, though — just why did he make an exit?
As longtime "Renovation Island" fans will no doubt remember, Weir was one of the original cast members. In fact, in a gallery of stills from the very first season, HGTV named him Bryan Baeumler's "Right-hand-man." As Baeumler's trusted project manager, Weir was also one of the first additional cast members, outside of the Baeumler family, to arrive on the island — and it's safe to say, he became a memorable part of the cast. Case in point: his Instagram comments sections. Back in April last year, several fans chimed in on the joy they got from seeing him on "Renovation Island," with one writing, "I'm always so happy to see you on the show!" Likewise, even after he left, an Instagram post by Baeumler that featured Weir in the background had fans chiming in to say they relished seeing snippets of the two working together. "Pretty sure Adam needs a spin-off show of his own!" wrote one. Another gushed, "My fav episodes are you with Adam."
However memorable he may have been, his tenure on the show came to an end early on in Season 3 of "Renovation Island." So, what happened?
He found love
Luckily for anyone concerned about behind-the-scenes drama, Adam Weir's decision to leave "Renovation Island" had little to do with the dynamic between him and longtime HGTV personality Bryan Baeumler. Far from it, his choice came down to something more on the wholesome side. That is, finding love.
In the Season 3 episode that saw the Bauemlers address Weir's exit, Bryan embellished on that. "Adam has found himself a nice girlfriend, and he wants to stick it out here in Canada for a little while," he explained (via Country Living). Sarah Baeumler also hinted that the relationship was pretty serious, pointing out that he had moved into a new "Stage of life."
It certainly seems that might be the case. After all, Weir hasn't posted to his Instagram in a while, and the most recent pictures he's shared are of himself with his girlfriend, Brittany Murphy, and her two daughters at Walt Disney World. Those weren't the first pictures he'd shared of their little family unit either. Two months ahead of their Disney trip, he'd also shared a sweet message to Instagram in honor of International Women's Day, describing Murphy and her girls as the "three smart and wonderful ladies in my life."
... and he's also been busy running a business
Spending time with loved ones hasn't been the only thing taking up Adam Weir's time since leaving the cast of "Renovation Island."
Weir might not be Bryan Bauemler's go-to project manager anymore, but he's still in construction. According to his Instagram account, Weir owns EZ Dock Kawartha, a dock installation company. Additionally, his new hustle has a surprising connection to his time spent on "Renovation Island." As he revealed in an interview with Rogers TV, Weir explained he'd first met the owners of EZ Dock while working alongside the Bauemlers. "They actually did a project down in the Bahamas for [Renovation Island] Season 3," he explained. Soon enough, he struck up a relationship with the brand — and as the pandemic saw an increasing number of people moving closer to nature and into waterside abodes, he saw an opportunity.
A few years after his exit from "Renovation Island," it seems Adam Weir has no regrets about his new reality. Having said that, if he was thinking of a return, we have no doubts that "Renovation Island" fans would welcome him back with open arms. After all, in one of his posts advertising EZ Docks, a fan commented that the show was "not the same without you!" Yep — we'll call that leaving a mark!
