Inside John Stamos And Dave Coulier's Tight Friendship

Many can't think of John Stamos and Dave Coulier without thinking of the hit sitcom "Full House," which aired from 1987 to 1995. Stamos played the cool Uncle Jesse, while Coulier was the funny comic, Joey Gladstone. The two lived with Bob Saget's character, Danny Tanner, and helped him raise his three young daughters.

Over the years, Stamos and Coulier developed such a tight bond that the two were each other's wingmen during their single heydays. In 2015, Coulier shared on AMP 103.3 FM that Stamos would often ask for his assistance with women (via Today). "John would call me up — here's why John is such a great guy — he would call me up and say, 'Hey, do you know any guys that could come over because there's five girls sitting in my pool right now and I need some help?'" Coulier went on to say that he would call his hockey friends and tell them, "Hey, we have to go over to John's house and help him right now because there are some supermodels sitting around his pool and he's a little overwhelmed."

Stamos and Coulier undoubtedly had a lot of fun during their bachelor days, but they are now happily married with children. Over the years, they have remained great friends and celebrated many happy occasions together.

John Stamos and Dave Coulier celebrate milestones together

Dave Coulier married Melissa Bring in 2015, and his "Full House" castmates were naturally there to celebrate his big day. "Bob [Saget] and John [Stamos] pulled me aside after the ceremony. We laughed and we hugged and we kissed each other like three brothers do, there were genuine tears of joy welling up in our eyes," Coulier told People. While Bob Saget made three speeches, Stamos took the mic once, and the comedian recalled him tearing up at one point. "He said that me and Melissa were an inspiration and he hopes everyone can be as lucky as us," Coulier shared.

When Stamos welcomed his first child with his wife Caitlin McHugh in 2018, Coulier couldn't have been happier for him. "He's talked about it since I've known him, which is over 30 years. Caitlin couldn't be a better mom and a better partner for him. We are very excited to welcome her to the family," Coulier gushed, per People. The "Worst Cooks in America" star also has ties with Stamos' late father, whom he named his son Billy after. "I was very close to John's dad Bill, we were golf buddies. We shared a ton of laughs together while he was still alive," he revealed, adding that Stamos was going to be an "incredible dad."

While Stamos and Coulier shared a lot of happy moments together, they also bonded over the tragic loss of their castmate, Saget.

John Stamos and Dave Coulier mourn the loss of Bob Saget

Early in January 2022, Bob Saget was found dead in his hotel room in Florida, which was later revealed to be from a head trauma, per CNN. John Stamos and Dave Coulier expressed how heartbroken they were by the loss of their dear friend. "I am broken. I am gutted. I am in complete and utter shock. I will never ever have another friend like him. I love you so much Bobby," Stamos tweeted. Coulier echoed Stamos' sentiment. "My heart is broken. I love you, Bob. Your forever brother, Dave," he wrote.

Stamos and Coulier looked somber on the day of Saget's funeral, where they both served as pallbearers, CNN reported. Stamos recalled finding Saget "annoying" when they first met on the "Full House" set. "I came in wanting to approach the sitcom with structure, whereas Bob and Dave [Coulier] just wanted to make everyone laugh all the time," he shared.

Following Saget's death, Coulier had the idea to assemble the cast together for another spin-off, per E! News. "What I would love to do is bring all the original cast back to where we are older now and we talk about our lives. We can reflect and tell stories about Danny Tanner and keep his character alive ... I think we would all do it in a heartbeat." If it means Stamos and Coulier reprising their roles as Uncle Jesse and Joey, fans would be all for it.
