Who Bit Beyonce And Other Awkward Celeb Encounters With Queen Bey

Who bit Beyoncé? It's a question that, as of this writing, still has social media abuzz, thanks to comedian Tiffany Haddish's story about an unnamed and apparently intoxicated actress who had the gall to sink her chompers into the Queen's face. But the anonymous biter isn't the only celebrity to have an awkward encounter with the artist once known as Sasha Fierce.

We're not talking about D-listers who somehow got the opportunity to worship at Bey's feet, either. This list includes a former UFC champ, an Oscar nominee, a bunch of comedians, and even a star who is relatively friendly with Beyoncé, but still can't handle being near her.

And the stories run the gamut from cutesy fangirling to straight up mortifying disasters. While everyone would love a chance to share a moment with Queen Bey, we're sure some of the famous folks on this list would like to ask for a mulligan on theirs. Here are some awkward celeb encounters with Beyoncé.

#WhoBitBeyoncé

We'll start with the awkward celeb encounter that rocked the world — well, maybe just social media, if we're being honest. Of course, we're referencing comedian Tiffany Haddish's crazy story about the mystery actress who allegedly bit Bey's face.

According to The Telegraph's exhaustive timeline of each time Haddish spilled a bit more tea about the incident, it went down like this: At the December 2017 party Beyoncé threw to celebrate the end of Jay-Z's 4:44 Tour, Haddish observed an actress "touching Jay-Z's chest." This allegedly evoked a fierce response from Beyoncé, who later informed Haddish that the chest-toucher also bit her face. Haddish threatened to defend her Queen's honor by "beating [the biter]'s a**," but Bey insisted that she just "have fun" instead, because she knows the biter, and dismissed her behavior on account of her being "on drugs."

After Haddish finally dished the full details of Bitegate, the internet immediately spun into private detective mode, which resulted in two possible culprits as the biter: Sanaa Lathan and Sara Foster, who have both denied their teeth ever came anywhere near Beyoncé's flawless face.

Haddish herself even came under scrutiny from the rest of the BeyHive, who weren't happy with the details of their infamously private Queen's life being splashed all over the place. "Y'all forgot I am in the hive too and just know this I will always speak my truth," Haddish replied to her haters on Instagram, repeating that she will continue to defend Bey's honor with brute force if necessary.

While Haddish's Beyoncé encounter is undoubtedly wild, we absolutely cannot wait for the biter's side of the story, including the likely detail that she no longer has to brush and floss thanks to whatever amazing magic happened to her mouth when it touched Beyoncé.

Nice to meet you, Mrs. Z

We know every other awkward celeb encounter with Beyoncé that does not involve someone assaulting her face with their mouth is going to pale in comparison, but it's pretty funny to think that even UFC stars turn into puddles of fangirl goo around her. That's exactly what happened when Holly Holm, the mixed martial artist perhaps best known for knocking out Ronda Rousey in a title fight, went to a VIP party hosted by Bey and Jay.

Speaking with Elle, Holm said she stuck her foot directly in her mouth when she was introduced to the superstar couple, first to Jay-Z, then to his better half, to whom Holm said, "Oh hi, what's your name?" And it's not even that Holm didn't know who Beyoncé was, because let's be real, who doesn't know who Beyoncé is? It's just that she was so nervous, she defaulted into what she described as the normal pleasantries of meeting someone's spouse.

Holm claims that she spent the rest of her interaction with '03 Bonnie & Clyde kicking herself for her awkwardness, before finally apologizing. "I go back to Beyoncé and I'm like, 'I can't believe I just did that,' Holm said, adding, "She goes, 'Oh no, it's fine.' I'm like, 'No, I really ... it's such an honor to meet you."

Hey, it could have been worse. At least Blue Ivy's mom didn't throw a rear naked choke on her.

Not charmed by Channing

You'd think even Beyoncé, in all her glory, would be slightly awed by meeting Magic Mike in the flesh, but that simply wasn't the case when the "Formation" singer laid first laid eyes on Channing Tatum. There's a pretty good reason for that: He was in drag as her at the time.

It's not as weird as we just made it sound, however, because Tatum was only in full Queen Bey regalia for his Lip Sync Battle performance, during which he danced to "Run the World (Girls)." Beyoncé surprised everyone by showing up at the end of Tatum's performance, which unfortunately for him, was the first time they ever met.

"That was definitely the most terrifying thing I've ever done," Tatum later told Ellen DeGeneres of the introduction. Making the encounter even more awkward for Tatum was the fact that Beyoncé didn't stick around backstage so he could meet her, you know, not looking like a nightmare version of herself. "She did text afterwards and was like, 'Hey, I would love to meet you guys and hang out when you're not looking like me,'" Tatum said.

That just goes to show what a legend Beyoncé truly is, because we know many women who wouldn't turn down the chance to hang out with Channing Tatum even if he was dressed like Charles Manson.

Fan girl of the year

Actress and singer Anna Kendrick relayed her awkward Beyoncé encounter story on Conan. She recalled her trip to the 2014 Grammys when she and her friend "detoured" their path to make sure they walked past the "Single Ladies" singer. The low-grade stalker tactic paid off when Beyoncé waved her over, a gesture Kendrick missed because she was trying to avoid eye contact with her idol.

"She was so nice!" Kendrick gushed, saying that Beyoncé then complimented her on a recent performance and dress she'd worn at the Kennedy Center Honors. "She said that I had a little red dress, which means that she actually watched it, or it means that I was having a stroke and I imagined the entire thing."

Kendrick also commemorated the meeting with an Instagram photo on which she drew a heart around herself and Queen Bey, and captioned it "FanGirlOfTheYear." Describing the photo to Conan, Kendrick joked, "I feel like we're going to be best friends, or she has a restraining order."

Chrissy Teigen has no chill around Beyoncé

Supermodel Chrissy Teigen has interacted with Beyoncé a number of times, thanks in part to the fact that she's married to fellow musician John Legend, and the fact that she is, well, incredibly famous in her own right. But none of that means she's immune to the paralyzing power of Beyoncé's presence.

In fact, Teigen has told of at least two awkward encounters with the "Drunk in Love" singer. First, she told Cosmopolitan of an epic fail the time she tried to "be caj" (casual) around Beyoncé at a party, by asking her, "What were you up to today?" So, what's wrong with that? Teigen had already run into Beyoncé earlier that day at a luncheon. Palm, meet face.

Another time Teigen goofed up a gathering with Bey was at the 2018 Grammys when — for some odd reason — she took both of Beyoncé's hands, got on her knees, and said, "Sorry to bother you, my Queen." Not only was her husband, who was cool as a cucumber chatting up Jay-Z, perplexed by her behavior, Teigen herself couldn't believe what she was doing in the moment. "It was so weird!" she told Jimmy Fallon, recalling the embarrassment during an interview on The Tonight Show

Eh, neither of those sound so bad, and besides, it's not like Teigen has fanned the flames of #WhoBitBeyoncé with a cryptic series of tweets claiming she knew the biter's true identity, right? Oh, wait.

'Please tell her I'm not weird'

Even though singer and actress Zendaya was fortunate enough to land a part in Beyoncé's groundbreaking visual album, Lemonade, she still had a classic fangirl moment when meeting the Queen for the first time. Speaking with Seventeen about the experience, the Spiderman: Homecoming actress said that she "never acted like such an idiot in my life."

Zendaya said she was floored when Beyoncé came into her dressing room and thanked her for being a part of the project, at which point, Zendaya apparently lost it. She elaborated on the faulty first impression to Extra, saying that she never gets starstruck, but when Beyoncé walked in the room, it was a different story. "I basically passed out," Zendaya said, adding, "I couldn't even make eye contact. I was being so weird. It's like if she looked at me, I had to look away, and then when she looked away I stared at her."

Afterwards, Zendaya said she told her hair stylist, "Please tell [Beyoncé] that I'm not weird." Because that always works, right? "Hey, you know my friend who just hyperventilated at just the sight of your face?" we imagine Zendaya's hair stylist saying. "She wants you to know she isn't weird. She would have told you herself, but she's still wheezing into a paper bag."

Sorry about your Louboutins, here's a twenty

Comedian Kevin Hart is a personal friend of Beyoncé and Jay-Z, but like Chrissy Teigen, even repeated exposure to hip-hop's First Couple hasn't stopped him from having more than one awkward encounter with them. For starters, Hart was caught on camera in the front row of a Beyoncé show back in 2013, and to say that he lost his mind fangirling out would be an understatement.

Describing his experience at the show on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Hart said that even though he knows Beyoncé personally, he didn't understand the impact she had until he saw her perform. What that translated to for Hart was him screaming at the top of his lungs, dancing along with Bey's signature moves, and having his mind blown when she flew across the crowd on wires. "She flew in like Tinkerbell!" Hart can be heard excitedly yelling. So, okay, that's questionable behavior for a grown man, but not exactly mortifying. That brings us to the second incident.

In an interview on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Hart recalled the time he spilled a giant bottle of pineapple juice all over Jay-Z's pants and Beyoncé's feet in the VIP section of a nightclub. Making matters infinitely worse, Hart said he then slipped Jay-Z a $20 bill, as if that amount of money would even cover the cost of a single hangar upon which the superstar couple's soiled clothes would hang. Oof.

Not cool, Hannibal

Apparently Jay-Z and Beyoncé anecdotes are low-hanging fruit for comedians, because here we go again with stand-up star Hannibal Buress and his awkward encounter with music's royal couple. Like Kevin Hart before him, Buress also embarrassed himself in a club, Jay-Z's 40/40 club to be exact, when he tried to snap a photo of his own rapper pals, Chance The Rapper and Vic Mensa, with Jay and Bey.

"Jay-Z's pointing at me and he says, 'Be cool,'" Buress said on Storyville (via Complex). In his defense, Buress also said that it was odd that the "99 Problems" rapper tried to shut down his impromptu photo session, because there was a bunch of other people also taking photos, none of whom Jay tried to stop. "I wanted to be like, 'Nah, I don't want to be cool," Buress continued. "'This is a great picture. It's two friends of mine from Chicago that are doing well; they're hanging out with you — one of the biggest rappers in the world — and your wife — one of the biggest stars in the world ... I'm not gonna be cool.'"

But Buress didn't say that. He did, however, snap the photo anyway, which he told The Breakfast Club ended up capturing Queen Bey "angrily pointing at me." Our honest opinion? Worth it.

'Wonderment and awe'

Orange is the New Black star and card-carrying Beyhive member Laverne Cox also chose to channel Beyoncé for her Lip Sync Battle appearance. Cox tore down the house down with her version of Destiny's Child's "Lose My Breath," but unlike Channing Tatum, she did not have to face her idol immediately after pantomiming her.

Cox lost an opportunity to meet Beyoncé when she had to turn down a role in Lemonade due to a scheduling conflict because of her role in The Rocky Horror Picture Show reboot, according to BET. Fortunately, Cox finally got to meet Beyoncé at the 2017 Grammys, which she immortalized on Instagram with the caption, "This finally happened. I was so beside myself with joy, wonderment and awe of the majestic that is the queen I forgot to hold in my stomach and give you face. But I met #QueenBey y'all."

We know what you may be thinking: That wasn't really that awkward at all. And you're right, but not everyone goes around tossing fruit juice all over pop music royalty, now do they?

Jammin' folk with Jay and Bey

Another not-exactly-awkward celebrity encounter with Jay and Bey was the time singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran took them out for pizza after a show in Brooklyn. The ginger crooner recounted his magical night of Jay-za (Yep, that happened) during an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

"It was really random," Sheeran said. "I grew up listening to them, and then suddenly I was just like sitting across [from them] eating a slice of pizza like, 'Alright.'" He also said he took them to "a dive bar" owned by one of "his mates," where "there was a folk jam going on and we ... jammed some folk." Just picture that in your head for a moment: Ed Sheeran, Jay-Z, and Beyoncé eating pizza and rocking out to folk music in a Brooklyn dive bar.

Sheeran was sure to add, "They're the coolest, coolest, coolest people ... they're just open to whatever." Like we said up front, it's not exactly an awkward celebrity encounter, but if we had to choose between a dive bar and Jay-Z's swanky post-tour party as the more likely location for someone to bite Beyoncé's face, it would not have been the latter.

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter: Bladder Buster

We're ending on what was the most brief awkward celeb encounter with Beyoncé — literally just a moment of eye contact. Speaking with Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet at the 2017 Grammys (via Us Weekly), Paris Jackson recalled locking eyes with Queen Bey at the same award show seven years earlier when she accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award for her late father, Michael Jackson.

"I was really nervous, and I made eye contact with Beyoncé who was in the first row and I, like, almost peed myself," Jackson said, adding, "I was so excited and then I, like, couldn't think of what to say. But that was like my main focus."

It should be noted that the King of Pop's daughter is also on record later in the year citing Beyoncé as her "first crush." So while it may have been slightly unbelievable that just a brief glance of one's musical idol could incite such bladder-disrupting panic, keep in mind there was a possible romantic attraction element mixed in there. And on the bright side, at least in her story there were no soiled garments and no hilariously insulting attempts at a low-ball payoff. Yep, we're looking right at you, Kevin Hart.
