What Happened To Kim Richards' Daughter Brooke?
Kim Richards was one of the most controversial stars of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills." She first appeared in Season 1 alongside her sister Kyle Richards, and while they initially put up a united front, cracks began to appear in their relationship. People noted that during the Season 1 finale, an explosive fight between the two led Kyle to accuse Kim of being an alcoholic. Over the seasons, fans watched as Kim struggled with her addiction and attempted to get sober.
In 2014, Kim celebrated the wedding between her daughter, Brooke Wiederhorn (neé Brinson), and Fatburger heir Thayer Wiederhorn. Although she was in rehab at the time, TMZ reported that Kim was given a pass to attend her daughter's nuptials. After the ceremony, she was reportedly "under the influence of something" and "a mess" when speaking to guests, with the outlet noting she fought her daughter and the family of the groom.
Kim found herself in legal trouble in 2015. According to People, she was arrested twice that year, first for public intoxication and resisting arrest and then again after she allegedly tried to steal $600 worth of merchandise from Target. She was sentenced to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings — among other penalties — in relation to her shoplifting arrest. After becoming sober, it appeared that Kim and Brooke had mended their relationship. Unfortunately, Brooke and her family faced legal issues of her own a few years later.
Brooke's home was raided by the Feds
In February 2022, the Los Angeles Times reported that Brooke Wiederhorn's home had been raided by federal agents months prior as part of a criminal probe of her father-in-law, Andrew Wiederhorn. The chief executive of Fatburger's parent company was under investigation for financial crimes involving fraudulent loans and tax evasion. During the search, federal agents took away phones, tax documents, and digital storage devices. Brooke was not named in the court records, but the affidavit stated that Andrew and his children allegedly purchased high-ticket items through accounts associated with the company.
Andrew had previously spent 15 months in prison and paid $2 million in restitution after he pleaded guilty to financial crimes in 2014. Following the raid, during a call with his companies' shareholders, Andrew claimed that his "personal history" was what prompted the Feds to look into his businesses, per the New York Post. Despite the legal problems Brooke's family is facing, she and her husband, Thayer Wiederhorn, have reason to celebrate.
Brooke welcomed her daughter just days before Christmas
Amid Brooke and Thayer Wiederhorn's family drama, the couple welcomed their third child, Sawyer Brinson Wiederhorn. "Happy due date Sawyer Brinson Wiederhorn. Our family has spent the last 12 days soaking up every minute with our sweet & precious girl. We love you so much!" Brooke shared on Instagram. As noted by People, Brooke and Thayer are also parents to two more sons, Hucksley and Hunter. Two days before Christmas, Brooke took to Instagram again to share a few holiday shots of her three children, with one of her sons cradling baby sawyer. "Santa already brought us the best gift this year," she captioned the post.
Although Kim has been missing from Brooke's pictures, the mother-daughter duo seems to be doing well. Brooke shared snaps of her baby shower back in October 2021, surrounded by her many cousins. While Kim was conspicuously absent, Brooke assured fans that her mother was in attendance. An Instagram user asked Brooke, "Why is Kim not at this celebration?" The expecting mom replied, "She was!! Just not there yet while we were taking these pictures. She would have never missed this day." Despite their past drama, it appears that Brooke and Kim have moved on.
