All The Details About Stacy London And Clinton Kelly's Feud
TLC's "What Not to Wear" was such a fan-favorite that nearly 27% of reality TV fans said they want the show back. The beloved makeover show ran from 2003 to 2013, where participants were nominated by friends and family (thanks, guys!) to get a whole new look without breaking the bank; hosts Clinton Kelly and Stacy London couldn't exceed a $5,000 budget. Not only did London and Kelly give others new looks, but they also inspired followings due to their own incredible styles. London's signature hair, with a stunning silver streak in the front, garnered a lot of attention.
London and Kelly seemed close as could be on-camera, but obviously behind the scenes, things were a little more tense. The two have since had a major falling out and, at least based on how Kelly described things, it was London who made it on the shady list of TLC stars. Things were pretty bumpy between the former co-stars for a long time, but there might be faint hints of reconciliation.
Was Stacy London upset about Clinton Kelly's book?
Clinton Kelly went on to star on the ABC talk show "The Chew" after TLC's "What Not to Wear." He also wrote a book in 2017 called "I Hate Everyone, Except You," and in this tell-all, he dished about his former co-star, Stacy London. "I either adored her or despised her, and never anything in between," Kelly wrote of London. "We spent nearly sixty hours a week in captivity, rarely more than an arm's length away from each other. Trust me when I tell you that is just too much time to spend with any other human being you didn't choose of your own free will." Ouch! Not exactly rave reviews of his co-star!
Fans were surprised to hear about this animosity, since Kelly and London seemed so close on-set. So, when Kelly sat down with the Connecticut Post in January 2017, the interviewer was full of follow-up questions about his alleged dislike of London. But Kelly was nonplussed by what he wrote. "[A]s far as Stacy, we loved each other and despised each other, and if she were writing a book, I expect she would say exactly what she thought about me too," he said. "And it would be fine." It might have been fine for Kelly, but London seemed to get really upset, and many speculated that it was the contents of Kelly's book that set her off.
Stacy London blocked Clinton Kelly... then unblocked a bunch of people
While Clinton Kelly was on "The Chew" and Stacy London was busy with "Love, Lust or Run," she ended up blocking Kelly on Twitter. It was in 2017, after his book came out, and he posted a screenshot to Twitter that London had blocked him and added the caption, "Alllll righty then" (via Distractify). Kelly later told his co-hosts on "The Chew" what the experience felt like. "It was like getting a little slap in the face, like, 'What is that all about? Like how and why and when?'" he said. Kelly added that he didn't know when London blocked him or why exactly.
While London didn't address Kelly's comments head-on, in April 2018, she shared a post on Instagram about forgiveness. "So I unblocked a bunch of people today," she wrote. "If this resonates, maybe you can too." Whether Kelly was included in this grouping of the great unblocked is unclear, but it seems like London was softening online.
But London knows that she can rub people the wrong way, her co-stars included; she's certainly not in the dark about this. "Has anybody ever gotten mad at me?" she said in a conversation with People. "Are you talking about guests or are you talking about the crew? Everybody got mad at me, oh yeah. I piss everybody off." So, at least she's aware of her weaknesses. And we've got to love both Kelly and London for their strengths!
