Are Tom Brady And Julian Edelman Still Friends?

Tom Brady and Julian Edelman have forged quite the friendship over the years. Of course, the twosome played alongside one another for a decade between 2009 and 2019, with both heading onto the field week after week as two of the New England Patriots' most famous players wearing the numbers #11 and #12. Of course, their time as teammates all ended when Brady called time on his very lengthy stint playing for the Patriots, instead making a big move to the Sunshine State and focusing his attention on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — the team he would eventually take all the way to the Super Bowl.

Edelman responded to the news of Brady's departure with just one very poignant word, sharing a photo on Twitter (which was liked more than 94,300 times!) of them both out on the field together in their Patriots uniforms alongside the caption, "Family." But is that still the case today for the duo who have previously gone viral for their synchronicities? Here's what you need to know about if Brady and Edelman are still good friends to this day.

Why Julian Edelman called out Tom Brady

Julian Edelman had a few choice words for his former New England Patriots teammate Tom Brady when discussing their friendship in the wake of Brady's move to Tampa. Edelman told "Inside the NFL" in January that Brady hadn't called him and even hinted they had some kind of drama brewing between them. "We have a little beef right now," Edelman admitted (via CBS Boston). "I can't [share what it's about]. I can't kiss and tell!"

But it seemed like that beef was behind them by August, when Edelman admitted he's attempted to keep in contact with the football GOAT, but joked he'd been too busy to respond. "Hopefully he does hear this because he hasn't returned my text messages in a while and I'm giving him free publicity. That's why I did it... This is going to get some unearned media," Edelman, who was wearing one of Brady's Brady brand hats, told The Ringer. But don't think Edelman has been blowing up his bestie's phone for attention, as he admitted he didn't want to keep pestering his former teammate for favors.

It seemed like Edelman's publicity ploy worked though, as his decision to sport a Brady hat got his fellow football star's attention. Brady responded to a clip from the interview posted to Twitter, joking after he was asked to send out some Brady merchandise, "6'5, 220, not a huge bench guy. Will send out a care package this week."

Julian Edelman and Tom Brady proved they still have banter

Despite Tom Brady missing a text or two, it seems like Julian Edelman has no bad blood with longtime pal (hey, Brady has been a little busy with his personal life, so we're guessing Edelman probably cut him a little slack). The two even publicly proved they're still good friends in November when they exchanged a little banter on Twitter. Edelman reacted to a trailer for the movie "80 For Brady" on the social media site, writing, "#80forBrady will also be the title of the doc made about Tom's retirement." That tweet also caught Brady's eye (it seems like the bird app is clearly the way to get in contact with the football star!) as he jokingly responded, "Nah, you and I will be defending our 7th straight Florida Senior Shuffleboard title by then."

But while these two are clearly still good pals, is there a chance Brady could convince his former New England Patriots teammate to join him at his new Tampa Bay Buccaneers home? Well, despite Edelman retiring in 2021, he's certainly hinted there may be a small chance he'd be willing to head back to the field for his partner in crime.
