What Cillas Givens From My 600-Lb Life Looks Like Today
TLC's "My 600-Lb. Life" follows patients of Houston, Texas bariatric surgeon Dr. Younan Nowzaradan (also known as "Dr. Now") as they seek to qualify for surgical procedures that could provide them with a better quality of life. Since the show began airing, there are many patients who have stood out to fans for better or worse. Cillas Givens was featured as a patient on a 2019 episode of the series and became one of the show's greatest success stories (via Newsweek). He was later featured in an episode of the follow-up series, "My 600-Lb. Life: Where Are They Now?," as shown on TLC's YouTube channel.
Since his time on the reality TV series, fans are surely wondering how Givens is doing and what he looks like today after having undergone a major bariatric operation. At the time that his episode aired, Givens' weight loss was the most significant seen in any patient's first episode of "My 600-Lb. Life," according to Starcasm, as he dropped from his peak weight of 729 pounds down to 313 pounds. So, how has he fared in the years since?
Cillas Givens appears to be doing well
Ever since he proposed to his girlfriend, Jessica, at the end of his "My 600-Lb. Life" episode (via Newsweek), things seem to be going well for Cillas Givens. InTouch Weekly reports that Givens and his now-wife are living in Oklahoma again, after The List reported that they were residing in North Carolina.
At the end of Givens' episode of "My 600-Lb. Life" and into his episode of "My 600-Lb. Life: Where Are They Now?," one visible change was that he was no longer using supplemental oxygen, which he had previously used via a nasal cannula (via YouTube). It looks as though Givens continues not to need supplemental oxygen, a major difference from where he started out on the show.
Looking at Givens' personal Facebook account, some of which is publicly visible, he appears to be all smiles, in fact. One photograph shows him grinning for a selfie alongside some of his family members (as pictured above). Another public photo shows him posing alongside a dog (via Facebook).
Cillas Givens is working in healthcare
Previously, Cillas Givens had been working as a supervisor at ContactUS Communications, according to The List, but it looks like the "My 600-Lb. Life" alumnus has switched careers since that time — and in a significant way. His personal Facebook states that he is working as a Behavioral Habilitation Professional for Liberty Healthcare Corporation.
While it is unclear from his title what Givens' job entails on a daily basis, a description from HAS Incorporated explains some of the work that its behavioral habilitation professionals carry out for patients who require it. For example, its website notes, "Behavioral supports are individually designed and positive, emphasize learning, offer choice and social integration, and include modifying environments as needed" (via HAS Incorporated).
In other words, Givens seems to be moving beyond his time on "My 600-Lb. Life" and giving back to others in his community in his new role, and he appears to be thriving.
