What Christine Brown From Sister Wives Really Does For A Living
For most of "Sister Wives," viewers were only let in on the drama within the Brown family. We were privy to the ever-changing dynamics between Kody Brown and his four wives, Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn Brown, and how they managed to make the plural family setup work.
But as far as viewers are concerned, it's the show that's putting food on the table for the ever-expanding family. Rarely do we get to witness what goes on behind the scenes, especially when it comes to what the sister wives do to earn additional income. But as it turns out, these ladies can support themselves even without the help of the patriarch.
Having additional revenue streams is especially important for Christine, as she had already split from Kody after two decades of marriage. "After more than 25 years together, Kody and I have grown apart and I have made the difficult decision to leave," she shared on her Instagram account in November 2021. "We will continue to be a strong presence in each other's lives as we parent our beautiful children and support our wonderful family." She has since moved away from Kody to live in her home state, Utah, and as it turns out, she's been living her best life.
Christine Brown used to work for the U.S. Census
Out of Kody Brown's four wives, Christine Brown was the one who played a big part in raising the kids and maintaining the household. She has been known as the homemaker in the family since "Sister Wives" started, something that she takes pride in.
But come Season 17, it was revealed that she had to maintain a job in the early years of their marriage as they needed more income. She recalled that it was around she was pregnant with Truely, the turning point of their relationship. "Where mine and Kody's marriage started to disintegrate is actually when I was pregnant with Truely. I was overwhelmed with everything. I still had to, like, produce some kind of income, so I was working at night," she recounted (via Starcasm). "I asked Kody, I said, "I need your help." And he goes, "I can't do that. I'm in other houses... I just can't." While she didn't reveal what job it was, Starcasm discovered that she once worked as a partnership assistant for the U.S. Census in Denver, Colorado, where she likely fielded calls and performed data entry tasks. And per her bankruptcy filing following Truely's birth, Christine disclosed that she made around $1,200 a month at the time.
What's more, per InTouch Weekly, Christine had a side hustle as a retailer for a company called LuLaRoe. It's a multi-level marketing company that sells women's clothing, and given how Christine had amassed a massive following thanks to the show, she likely also earned hefty commissions.
Inside Christine Brown's life since leaving Kody
Of course, it's also worth noting that Christine Brown earned quite a bit from starring in "Sister Wives." The family reportedly takes home somewhere around $25,000 to $40,000 per episode, which is then split among them.
But now that she's officially left Kody Brown, Christine is doing quite alright for herself. On her Instagram, she has a microsite that links to the multiple ventures she has, including Cameo, in which she does live video calls with fans for $120 a pop, a business video for $245, and personalized videos for $40.
Christine managed to book her very own TLC show, too. She's currently starring in a digital cooking show called "Cooking with Just Christine," where she gets to showcase her impeccable skills in the kitchen. "I'm Christine Brown. You know me from 'Sister Wives,' but what you might not know is how much I love to cook," she said in the teaser. Episodes drop on the TLC website every Sunday, and fans get to learn all sorts of new recipes and cooking techniques from the star.
