What Laura Perez From My 600-Lb Life Looks Like Today
The TLC reality television series "My 600-lb Life" features patients of Houston, Texas, bariatric surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (also known as "Dr. Now") in their journey to qualify for bariatric surgery and hopefully to change their lives in the process. While not all of Dr. Now's patients have qualified to be operated upon, many patients featured on "My 600-lb Life" have had dramatic transformations because of the weight they have lost relative to their starting weights. One success story on "My 600-lb Life" is patient Laura Perez, who stated in her episode, "I have to do something, or I'm not gonna be around much longer" (via YouTube).
At the start of her journey on "My 600-lb Life," as shown in the episode, Perez used a wheelchair for mobility and used an oxygen tank with a nasal cannula. She later appeared on "My 600-lb Life: Where Are They Now?" to show the progress she had made, but Starcasm reported in 2018 that Perez seemed to have disappeared from social media at that time.
Laura Perez has lost a significant amount of weight
As shown on "My 600-lb Life: Where Are They Now?," Laura Perez was mobile and visibly thinner than she was at the start of her original episode of "My 600-lb Life," and she was no longer using supplemental oxygen. According to Starcasm, Perez weighed 182 lb., although it was speculated that she weighed less than that as of 2018.
An update on Perez from In Touch Weekly stated that she was single as of August 2022, though Starcasm had reported that she was in a relationship with a man named Eric Juarez and was possibly married to him. It was also unclear if Perez had children with Juarez or was possibly pregnant with his child at the time of Starcasm's report, though Reality Titbit claims that Perez has two children. If this is the case, it isn't clear if any children she has are her children with Juarez or with someone else.
Laura Perez appears to use a new name
Although she previously used the name Laura Perez, the "My 600-lb Life" star appears to be using a new name: Angelika. In Touch Weekly noted this in its update on Perez, while website Blasting News gives Perez's name as Angelika Pacheco. Googling that name comes up with social media profiles that appear to belong to the same individual who was previously known as Laura Perez, though she appears to have posted to Twitter most recently in 2017.
A Facebook profile for a user named Angelika Perez, living in San Antonio, Texas, appears to match that of Laura Perez, so it is unclear what surname she is currently using. A profile photo of Perez on that Facebook account, uploaded in 2021, shows her with lighter hair than in previous photos as well as a tattoo on her chest, and it appears that she has not regained the weight she lost with the assistance of bariatric surgery from "My 600-lb Life."
