OJ Simpson Denies Long-Standing Khloé Kardashian Paternity Rumor
Years before the Kardashian-Jenner family became reality TV superstars, they were heavily scrutinized for their involvement in the OJ Simpson case. When OJ was accused of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman, OJ's longtime friend Robert Kardashian joined the former NFL star's legal defense team.
The trial, which resulted in OJ being found not guilty, sparked profound tension between Robert and his ex-wife Kris Jenner, who was close to Nicole. In a 2020 interview on "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman," Kim Kardashian revealed, "It kind of tore our family apart, I'd say, for the whole time of the trial." Back in 1996, Robert appeared on ABC's "20/20" to share his doubts about OJ's verdict. He explained, "I wake up in the middle of the night. I'm so conflicted because of that blood evidence. It's very difficult for me." Robert died in 2003 from cancer, per Us Weekly.
OJ's controversial acquittal, as well as their father's tragic death, deeply affected the Kardashian daughters. Beyond the emotional ramifications, the Kardashian-Jenners' connection to OJ Simpson had another impact on the famous family. Even though OJ's trial is long over, Khloé Kardashian remains at the forefront of some dubious rumors revolving around Kris and OJ's romantic ties.
Unsubstantiated theories about Khloé Kardashian's biological father
For years, there have been unfounded rumors that Khloé Kardashian is OJ Simpson's biological daughter. Fans have taken to social media platforms such as Reddit to speculate and share their reasons for believing that OJ is Khloé's dad. One user wrote, "Khloé resembles OJ's daughter more than she does her Kardashian sisters." The book "The Kardashians: An American Drama" (via Page Six) sparked further controversy by alleging that Robert Kardashian once told his pastor that Khloé wasn't his biological child. The internet has famously debated who Khloé's real father is, with the list including notable celebrities such as Simpson and Lionel Richie. Richie denied it, per TMZ.
Kris Jenner's confession in her book "Kris Jenner and All Things Kardashian" (via the Daily Mail) also added fuel to the fire, as she admitted that she cheated on Robert with a producer named Ryan. However, Kris has maintained that her late husband is without a doubt, Khloé's biological dad. In 2012, she told Good Morning America (via the Daily Mail), "I have never heard such crap in my life. I was there, right. I gave birth, I know who the dad was. Everything's good. We're all good. It's the family joke because Khloé was blonde and not dark-haired."
Khloé Kardashian's response to paternity rumors
As the media took a growing interest in the true identity of Khloé Kardashian's father, the Kardashian-Jenner family decided to take some action. In a 2012 episode of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," Kris Jenner urged her daughter to take a paternity test in order to settle the chaos. On the phone, Jenner told Khloé, "I mean, it's going to take something that proves its faults once and for all, in my opinion." In another "KUWTK" clip (via Hollywood Life), Khloé received DNA results about her biological father. Looking at her test, she revealed that she's "58% Euro and 41.6 Middle Eastern." Kourtney Kardashian teased, "You are my sister!"
Khloé has maintained her sense of humor about the rumors, once telling Gossip Cop (via the Daily Mail) "I've had so many dads my head is spinning lol." But despite the family's efforts to prove that Robert Kardashian Sr. is Khloé's real dad, some fans continue to dispute these claims. But now, one of Khloé's theorized fathers is coming forward to share his side of the story.
OJ Simpson put Khloe Kardashian paternity rumor to rest
OJ Simpson recently appeared on the "Full Send Podcast" and emphatically denied rumors that he had an affair with Kris Jenner. He shared, "I always thought Kris was a cute girl. She was really nice. But, you know ... I was — I was dating supermodels!" OJ continued, "the rumor ain't true. Nowhere close to being true. I've never been attracted to her... I never suspected she was ever attracted to me ... so that was never the case." The host then mentioned that "some people think you [Simpson] might be Khloé Kardashian's real dad." Simpson interrupted him and emphasized that Kardashian is not his daughter.
This isn't the first time that Simpson shut down rumors that he is Khloé Kardashian's father. In a Twitter clip (via Entertainment Tonight Canada), the former NFL star affirmed that he's never been romantically interested in Kris. He remarked, "All of these stories are just bogus." Regarding the paternity theory about Kardashian, he added, "The simple fact of the matter is she's not mine."
